Navy studies moving carrier to Florida -- Construction, Hampton...

The Navy is studying the idea of moving a Hampton Roads aircraft carrier to a new home port in Florida as early as 2012, according to a draft environmental study released Friday.

I THINK THIS WOULD BE A GREAT IF THEY MAKE THE MAYPORT BASE. ABLE TO DOCK NUCLEAR PLANTS. I WAS STATIONED ON THE KENNEDY AND WHEN THE SHIP LEFT THE BUSINESSES TOOK A TURN FOR THE WORSE.

All areas take a bad blow when a ship leaves! Seen it happen before. Norfolk Virginia is the best place for those ships .

Move the carrier to Florida. It will lessen the traffic we put up with when all of them move.

This was a done deal a long time ago...GWB still has that bill to pay off...why waste tax dollars to study when the decision has already been made...

Dock it at Fort Monroe.. There should be plenty of room there after 2011....

Would be nice to keep them all here, but, "All the eggs in one basket" is tough to argue for. Seen four or five carriers docked at NOB during the holidays.

Hey shipyard guy "didn't they try that at Pear Harbor some time back ?
The choice to dock in Florida is not to swift with the bad weather they receive from time to time ? Nobody wants an aircraft carrier on there front lawn !
