obama will let these people buy an expensive home with nothing down, but the finance companiies will not allow them to buy a car the same way. Make them pay what a bus ride actually costs, don't make me pay for it, I am having to pay for thier house payment, EBT card, welfare, free medical bills, etc.

It's not just blacks using the bus, many folks of all colors find it a cost effective manner of transport for work they have since the cost to operate a car, not to mention the possibility of accidents with the massive transportation issues crowding up our highways.

Thanks to the past few years, and especially the last 24 months, many folks OF ALL COLORS, have lost jobs and have been unable to keep possessions like vehicles that when they were working they could well afford. With loss of vehicles, makes looking for work all that much more difficult, so the bus system gives them an option to get around and find a job, and if so fortunate, keep it.

You need to lighten up with the hating man - not everything and everyone having to use services like these are sitting on welfare or intellectually deficient such as your racist post demonstrates of you.

No more government sponsored transportation in Georgia. We have run out of tax money and most Georgians prefer cutting services rather than raising taxes. Make the people that ride them pay for the service, free enterprise is best.

The xpress bus is there to reduce traffic into Atlanta. It's like the van pools. That is worth subsidizing, imho.

You are welcomed to subsidize anything you want, don't even think about asking us hardworking people to pay it. Atlanta and Georgia has subsidized so many things that our tax bills are to high. If you want it you pay it, not me.

And all the folks kept saying years back, "Aww hell no, MARTA ain't coming to Douglasville". Guess what. It did. GRTA is an offshoot of MARTA. The way I see it, increase the prices. Charge for the service for YOU to do it. I will drive my car and pay my highway tazes. I for one do not care to pay or subsidize YOU wanting to ride the bus. YOU pay for it. VRROOOOM goes my car.

Car owners do pay for it, it is paid for by tax on gas, look it up when you go back to school to learn how to type and spell.

*slapping forehead*

Have any of you ever used the XPress bus? Do you know when it runs?

It's geared toward PROFESSIONALS who work in the city during normal business hours.

A round-trip pass is $5. A 31 day pass is $80 Your average low income worker CAN'T afford to pay for that.

Where does this bus go? Downtown Atlanta, and Midtown Atlanta--employment centers for many in our region. So, NO it doesn't transport folks to the grocery store, etc etc. You see people with laptops and such headed to work.

*shaking my head* I swear, the internet and an anonymous message board brings out the worst in people.

I don't think the rates are high enough. I say raise them and RAISE THEM HIGH! After that, raise them again! Raise raise raise raise raise raise raise.

raising rates on a government operated bus DOES happen to have something to do with politics. You may not be aware of it, so that says alot about where you stand ..just another fish in the water

I wonder how many people stood up in this meeting and said they believe the rates are extremely to low? I bet everyone in there would like to have their bus rates increased by 50% or MORE,THey get free bus vouchers, so they dont give a damn if it was $100 a mile.
