Parents warned to watch for whooping cough

what are the signs for whooping cough....my son coughs alot mostly during the night but he does cough during the day it has lasted atleat 2 weeks what should i do?

My son is only 9 mos and He had the running nose for a while with a cough for like 3 weeks already. I took him to the doctors they said he's lungs are clear and ears to, all they gave him was over the counter stuff. But now he's cough sound really bad and dry and he having a hard time coughing and breathing.His coughing is so bad and hard that he throw up most of the time. He has no fever and he's eating fine. It's just a really bad cough and he turn bright red he can't stop once he start coughing.What can I give him or what should I do? His older Sister have been the same way to, and they took medication and nothing.
