How does one know if they have the whooping cough? I've have an extremely mild but persistent cough for about 6 weeks. I assume I'd know it if I had something this major?

Not always. My daughter was diagnosed 3 days ago and the doctor wasn't even going to check her for it. I pushed for the test. She simply has had a persistent, mild cough for the last 3 weeks.
