I first came down with West Nile Virus about the second of Sept, Aching all over ,head ache, most pain in upper back, chest and neck, also , I told her I was a mess, Also the first day I had a fever of 101.2 but it has gone back to normal but today I feel like it is coming back. Chare told me I need to see DR Chan and set apt. For 2:15 P M today.
I went to see Dr Chan and told the Nurse and Dr Chan I was Aching all over ,head ache, most pain in upper back, chest and neck, also , I told them I was a mess, Also the first day I had a fever of 101.2 but I took Tylenol and it has gone back to normal but today I feel like it is coming back. Then Dr Chan asked me how my sciatica was doing and we got on the sciatica subject and completely forgot what I had came there for!
He gave me a order for my shoulder and I went on my way. That day and the next all I wanted to do was sleep and Marge was giving me Tylenol. But on Sunday I was so sick I decided to call Orland and talk to the R Nurse. After talking to her for a short time she told me was going to call DR Chan then he came on the line and told me to come in Monday at 10:30 AM
On Monday DR Chan told me to go to Christ Hospital Emergence so I did. The first thing they did was an EKG and told me it was good. Then we waited what seemed like for ever and the I was put in a room and they did an IV She was going to give me Morphine and I asked why? She told me for pain I told her I do not have much pain and she told me she would give me Tylenol and she did. They also drew blood and did tests. About 9 Hrs. Later Two Doctors came in and told me they wanted to give me a spinal and I told them I would rather not and they told me OK and left. About 1 Hr. Later I was discharged. They told me if I felt worse to just come back.
The next day I did feel bad and went in for the spinal. I was told that was the only way they could be sure they coverall the tests.
On 9/19/07 at 9:00 AM DR Chan Called me and told me I had the West Niles Virus! He also told me to call Dr Padovani, at IL, Dept. Of Health? Who later I found out was not a DR. His name Is Tom Padovani, I did call him and he asked me how this all started, I told him what I remembered and he told me I was the second case for Oak lawn this year, Also that Oak was the worst for the west Niles because of our lying water, He also told me I am know am un to the Virus and if I had any questions to call,
On Sept, 24 2007 at approximately 9:00 AM I had a call from Christ Hospital, they told me I had a West Niles Virus! She also apologized for taking so long for them to contact me. I asked her if I had died in my sleep from the West Niles Virus prior to going to the Hospital what would the chances have been that West Niles Virus would have been listed as the cause? She told me very slim! And said isn't that scary!!.I said YES IT IS!
