Mosquitoes in Northern Va. Test Positive for West Nile Virus

Prince William County health officials say mosquitoes collected in August and September have tested positive for the West Nile virus.

That's why it's always a good idea to spray yourself with bug repellent if you are going to spend any serious time outside. The Off with DEET works well for a lot of folks.

No, it is not a good idea to spray yourself with these bug-repellents. What is a good idea? Getting the vaccine that they now have for West Nile virus if you are going to be spending a lot of time outside, and getting your ass TO THE DOCTOR if you start feeling sick, which a lot of the 'stupid Americanos' as the Cubans call us won't or can't do.

Suit yourself. Some of us have done it for years with no ill effect. In fact when some of us DIDN'T use it, we got a case of Lyme's disease from deer ticks. Off doesn't just keep mosquitos away.

And while I can agree that a vaccination against West Nile would be good, also an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Of course if you are ALLERGIC to DEET, you'd have to find other methods or put up with being bit all the time.

Those of us who spend a lot of time outdoors unsprayed become the proverbial "lunchwagon" for mosquitoes if we don't take precautions.

i agree with both of you if you cant get to the doctor right away, use off or deet or something like that then you should go as soon as possible
