Reading Francis'comment about "Spending money at home...." got me thinking. How much of the funds spent on the war efforts (Iraq and Afghanistan) actually goes and stays overseas? There is payroll, some of which is spent overseas but much of which stays within our borders. Certainly there is a significant amount of aid given to the foreign governments and then there are the consumables...munitions, equipment, supplies, etc. So the question is how much of those funds actually "stays" and drives the U.S. economy?

The American Way wrote: Francis, thank you for our Fourth Grade analysis of a very complicated topic. Did it ever cross your mind that getting out might cost a lot more in the long run? Letting the Taliban return to power and become a haven for future terrorists to train for attacks on U.S. soil? Your comment is juvenile and shows little understanding of the situation. Maybe we should get out; but only if we put a lot more thought into it than you have. Why don't you just have your screen name "I just about disagree with everything that the liberals say". Your's isn't "the American way". It may be what half the country sides with, but the other half totally disagrees with you.

Now that Algore's (aka Woodhead) global warming hoax has been exposed (Climategate) I would remind readers that I never believed him in the first place, and I knew was just a scam to get Americans to demand that we raise their taxes. Sorry, my Red Phone (direct from the White House) is ringing, more later.........

Now that I've had a chance to get my mind right, I must say that Albert Gore is the most brilliant scientist to come along in my lifetime and that any whistle blower exposed e-mails must be a hoax. In fact the climate is warming so fast, that sweat is breaking out on my forehead right now. Hopey, Changey, Sweaty.....xoxo....Joe "Pluggsy" O'Biden.

It's the one from WalMart and it's the "suicide prevention center" on the line, returning your call.

Sally,
You are correct in your thinking. If fact, I started poking around to see how well this HC is working in Europe and Canada.
Something no one has seemed to mention is: these countries have had this system for so long, they have nothing to compare it to. They don't realize the amazing Drs. and Hospitals we have here. In the US we have the highest survival rate for cancer. Mortality has gone up 52% in Germany, 88% in England, 9% in Canada. England's breast cancer has soared more than 80% last 30 years. Canada still has 1.2 million looking for a Dr. Sale of private Ins. for basic services is forbidden. Their lead Drs. admits the system is imploding. Cost per year is $1200 per person in taxes. A family with 2 children is $5000. Britain has admited their system is not perfect and they are now rationing care. Switzerland says theirs is under a strain, and there is no ER's for the uncovered for the system in play. Sweden is considering private insurance again. Heart surgery there private hosp.-2 weeks Heart surgery ther public hospital-15-25 weeks. Hip surgery private 10 weeks. Hip surgery public 1 year.
The Netherlands, ah yes, They do practice euthanasia and some Drs. practice non-voluntary euthanasia. I could go on and on, but I think you can get the picture. According to the Spectator, for the 46 million here w/o insurance. 9.7 million are not citizens 14 million eligible for medicaid 17.6 million have an income of over $50,000 and just opted out. That leaves around 5 million that only need insurance here and yet this admistration is arrogant enough to think disrupting the entire nation, including the 230 million HAPPY with their insurance is the way to go. This should prove to the sane person, this isn't about HC for the people at all, but a take-over of our rights to make these decisions for ourselves. We did not put these bozos into office to delve into our personal lives and make these decisions for us. Is there problem with the system, yes, the insurance companies, which can be controlled by letting competition be opened up. the attorneys, which need to be muzzled, the unions, that are driving up the prices for all. They are the ones that will gain from all this, and yet, they remain silent, letting the WH do their dirty work. If they want to cover the 5-10 million that need coverage, fine, let them get their own house in order first and balance the books and cut back on expenses. Take care of the fraud in medicare and medicaid and cover those people. Tell them to take care of the corruption they have brought into this WH. Tell them to bring back manufacturing to this country for everything we need. Electronics, cars, food, clothing, utilities. Let us drill for oil here, while finding alternative ways for power. Tell them to stop dictating to other countries as to what they may or may not do in their own countries. Bringing back manufacturing, will bring back the jobs and the economy will right itself on it's own. Not taxing the people to balance the books.
