My psychiatrist wants to put me on Welbrutin for depression.I have tried many other antidepressants
and could not tolerate any of them. What kind of side effects should I expect from this drug and withdrawl if I have to go off of it? Thjis forum seems to be mostly for smokers trying to quit.Am I in the wrong forum? And what are anyone of your thoughts about the claims that the antidepressants are no more efective than placebos? Good luck to you all. Mike |

Judged: 1 1 1 It's a tough call IMO, Mike. I have struggled with depression myself a couple of times and know how nice it is to take a pill and have it work. I took Effexor a few years ago, and it worked wonderfully. THEN, I decided to get off it. What a friggin nightmare: brain zaps, insomnia, worsened deptression, etc etc...plus I had gained 30 lbs. I knew that if I just took another Effexor it would all be good again, but I just could not do that to myself, so I stuck it out. Years later, I am still dulled emotionally, don't really feel any strong emotions often. Chantix works on the pleasure centers, so I guess that's how it makes people quit smoking. However, that also means that it destroys other pleasures as well. Research all of your options before deciding on an antidepressant if you must have one. Check out patient reviews of Wellbutrin to see what people say about it. God bless you. |

Judged: 5 4 4 Some medications have been linked to an increased risk for violent, even homicidal behavior. A recent study identified 31 drugs that are disproportionately linked with violent behavior. Time Magazine lists the top ten offenders: 1. Varenicline (Chantix): The number one violence-inducing drug on the list, this anti-smoking medication is 18 times more likely to be linked with violence when compared to other drugs 2. Fluoxetine (Prozac): This drug was the first well-known SSRI antidepressant 3. Paroxetine (Paxil): Another SSRI antidepressant, Paxil is also linked with severe withdrawal symptoms and a risk of birth defects 4. Amphetamines:(Various): Used to treat ADHD 5. Mefoquine (Lariam): A treatment for malaria which is often linked with reports of strange behavior 6. Atomoxetine (Strattera): An ADHD drug that affects the neurotransmitter noradrenaline 7. Triazolam (Halcion): This potentially addictive drug is used to treat insomnia 8. Fluvoxamine (Luvox): Another SSRI antidepressant 9. Venlafaxine (Effexor): An antidepressant also used to treat anxiety disorders 10. Desvenlafaxine (Pristiq): An antidepressant which affects both serotonin and noradrenaline Sources: Time Magazine January 7, 2011 PLoS One December 15, 2010; 5(12) Pasted from <http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/ar... ; |

Use cauTion when using any drug. Don't drink. Let friends and family know to be on lookout for strange behavior. No wisecracks please-lol- |

Judged: 1 1 1 At least this chunk of baloney of yours is receiving an appropriately negative response from the "judges" this time. E-cigs=tobacco product Chantix=smoking cessation aid PROFIT from Chantix=small percentage of Pfizer's income AND Chantix comes with a money-back guarantee if you are still smoking after a certain length of time, despite the fact that it is nowhere close to 100% effective. |

Judged: 1 1 1 Ah, I see you choose to respond to the item least connected to debunking the Bushlit you posted previously. Parachutes' value is gradually going down, though. |

Judged: 1 1 1 No, it was simply removed from the list of drugs the government medical coverage will pay for. If the addicts wish to quit and will pay for it themselves, there is no barrier. Your source, though, provides a more jaundiced view of the recent issues with the FDA than what I've read elsewhere. |

Judged: 2 1 1 i dont think zyban is that effective to stop smoking. The only real way to quit is cold turkey in my opinion. 3 weeks it takes a human to get free from the addiction to ciggies. http://hosted.comm100.com/Forum/Buy-Zyban-Onl... |
