If your going to write a story, use facts not hyperbole. As quoted "While coaching for Ayer Youth Baseball at the park, Mayo also often sees white smoke wafting through the air, stinging his nose. " Stinging his nose ? No freaken' way. Can't anyone report news without taking the story and trying to sensationalize it. No the last rain storm wasn't the biggest in history, The snow storm wasn't freaken Biblical porportions and this guys nose doesn't sting at a little league game unless he is sitting in the stands kissing the smoker.

Surly you know "sports news" is not written up like real news. Off topic, but real news. The Wash Redskins suffered another loss late last week, a really tragic loss of one of their cheerleaders to the swine flue (H1N1). Our hearts go out to her famley, friends, fellow cheerleaders and team mates. So young and so much to live for. All of us who knew her will miss her. PS/ no i'm not giving out her name, that should come from family, national news media or Redskins front office.

Another "Tree Hugger" heard from. I'm not even from that area but I'll make it a point to drive there just to empty my ashtray.

""But they are infringing upon other people's right" to breathe fresh air and stay healthy, Michelle Lee, a cancer survivor from Ayer, told Cuoco."

No they aren't. The park and the beach are outdoors and no one is forcing anyone to go there. On the contrary, smokers who also pay taxes that support these facitities are being banned from a legal activity and if a smoker must smoke then that smoker is effectively being banned from the park and the beach. It is the smokers rights that are being taken away.

This is a park used by families. It isn't a bar. Last year I was visiting family in Ayer and went to the 4th of July fireworks display. We got there early to pick our spot and just before they started going off about six youths sat next to us and lit up. I couldn't care less if one wants to smoke but I can't stand the smell and do my best to avoid it. If smokers had any respect for those of us who can not stand cigarette smoke then we wouldn't be so defensive. Unfortunatley they don't so public places, especially those owned by taxpayers need legislative protection.

I am a regular smoker. I dont think that people should be ban from wherever they esp if it is a public place, BUT you need to have the respect that if there are children or realy anyone, step away. Just because you are a smoke doesnt mean you have the right to put it in people faces. You smoke by choice, make the choice to step away for the five minutes to finish your butt. Its not going to kill you. I hate it when people toss their cigarettes on the ground, Find other means to dispense of your butts.

you know I dont have a problem with all you phobes owning all the public spaces. But dont tax me for you phobia.! As a matter of fact, you should be forced to sell all public spaces and reimburse any smoker who has paid taxes for said property.. Then you phobes can start over a new and claim all new projects in the name of the Non Smokers.! You can have it your way but you need to pay instead of just steal!!

You'd think someone so sensitive to cigarette smoke wouldn't attend a fireworks display where you're inhaling burning sulphur and and gunpowder. I seem to detect a little "progressive hipocracy". We all know where fireworks are made and how much this country cares about the environment so they must be using the safest materials.

Read on....also stated that they should have a designated area within the park and beach. Exactly no one is forcing anyone to go there so if they want to smoke they are welcome to come and feed their addiction in their designated area. Take it to city hall and make sure you invite all the other people who will follow when they decide that they should be able to drink beer/alcohol in a public area and any of the illegal drug users who want to shoot up in this public area.
Right up on Main Street. In fact I am so inspired by your intellect I'd like for you to write into the Sun and do an editorial about it. I would like for you to write the benefits and all the positive results that will come from this. The benefit of me and my child inhaling your second smoke I am literally dying to hear what we are missing out on.

Move to where the next smoker? Oh okay yeah thats right? I forgot some smokers do not have common courtesy. They own the world and do not have to think of others (they are thoughtless) in asking the classic line "Do You Mind if I smoke," Do you mind if I stink up your clothes, poison the air you breathe, and by the way I know you were their first and that you only have a five month old but could you just get up and leave instead of coughing and wheezing it's really disturbing my listening enjoyment while I puff some rings.(for my mental stimulation)

Sounds like the Vegan who goes to the fair claiming they were poisoned by the experience.

The meat addicts toxic clouds go whafting everywhere. There is simply no escaping it.

Don't Vegans have the right to "smoke free air"?

What gives the meat addicts the right to poison those who take care of the earth and their bodies?

Hhhhmmmmm.

If non-smokers had any respect for those who smoke they would move to another location. It's easy, you put one foot in front of the other until you are far enough away to not be bothered.
