For the last month Ive had trouble sleeping. I go to bed about 11pm and wake up about 3am to go for a slash go back to sleep no problem. I then wake up again about 5ish and can't go back to sleep. This has been happening on and off for a month, I thought it was overtraining so took a week off still no difference.
Nothing in my diet has really change, Im not suffering any sort of real stress or anxiety, so I completely lost. Ive had 3 nights in a row of this its seriously affecting training and work because Im always tired. Going to go to the doctor on Thursday, fighure hes just goint to give me pills. Any ideas or anyone had similiar? |

Hi Mike
I hope have you managed to resolve your sleep difficulties. If you are still having difficulty then you may be interested in participating in a research study. I am a Trainee Clinical Psychologist and currently doing my Doctorate at the University of Glasgow Sleep Laboratory. I have posted on this forum before, as I am looking at alternative treatments to insomnia and have found this website useful for understanding the difficulties that many individuals go through. I would be really interested in hearing from anyone to gather some more information. I hope that if you do contact me, you would find it beneficial to discuss your sleep related difficulties, and to receive feedback regarding the findings of my research. Please e-mail me at the following address for further information: sleepresearch@hotmail.co.uk Thank you Laura |

Mike - I've been having almost the exact same problem, except it's been going on for about a week. Did you get it resolved? |

How strange.. I'm having exactly the same problem: slash at 3am, then up at 5:30am, unable to get back to sleep!!!
Any advice? |

I've had the same problem for about month now. Bed at 11-12ish and wake up about 4 every day and can't get back to sleep, sometimes it's as early as 2. I'm under no stress etc, nothing has changed so I don't know the answer.

Hey I'm 24 and work a 9-5 comute job with a pretty active evening social life which means my bed time is very inconsistant. I occasionally wake at 3am like alot of you but get this, i wake up at exactly 5:15 every morning, thankfully i get back to sleep, usually before 6, then wake up at 7 or so but I think its affecting me in the day time and making me feel tired. A friend of mine suggested that its due to my body clock being all over the place and that i should train it for a few weeks. Any thoughts?

I can't promise a fix but you might want to read about taking a magnesium supplement in the evening or just before bed (a water soluble version is best; the others are hard for your body to absorb).
Good luck, I know it's miserable. |

i go to bed at 8:30 nightly and wake suddenly at 2 with extreme exhaustion. mostly do not fall back asleep but on the rare occasions when i do it is for 2 hours at most when it is getting light.

My Problems have been similar. I go to bed 11-12, and then sometimes I'll wake up at 2/3. Then I'll manage to get back to sleep without to much difficulty before I again wake up at 6, 7, 8 - It's a bit of a pain but I've been putting it down to the fact I'm a teen and my body clock is reorganising itself or something :S

Strangely I've been having a very similar problem, I go to bed at about 9 or 10 ish and I fall asleep just fine but then I wake up at about 12 and I don't get back to sleep until 2 ish and then I wake up at about 4 then I simply can NOT get back to sleep until it's time to get up. I've been having this same problem for 2 months and I have no health problems or sleeping disorders and I'm only 13! When I get home tonight from school I'm going to ask mum if I can see a doctor, she'll probably say no though because she can never be bothered to take me anywhere.

2 suggestions:
1) Natural Calm 2) take a calcium supplement before bed |
||||
I've already tried a calcium supplement before bed but I don't quite understand what you mean by natural calm. |
||||
'Natural Calm' is a magnesium product; you can google it. People say really good things about it for insomnia on amazon, etc. |
