I was actually searching this question because I myself have been waking up at this hour, I recently decided to because I was working 16 hour shifts for a week and I fell asleep for about 18 hours straight and without fail, I still woke up at three. No matter what time i sleep, how long or how tired, i always wake up at that hour

Thats really weird I too wake up between 2:00-2:30 every night. Unlike you guys though I don't really worry about it I just screw my wife and go back to sleep.

I AM GOING TO TRY AND STOP DRINKING COFFEE, BUT I HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM OFF AND ON FOR YEARS NOW, I WENT TO A SLEEP CENTER, AND IT DID CRAP. I THINK IT IS SOMETHING CHEMICALLLY IN THE BODY. MY BROTHER SAID HE READ SOMEWHERE,THAT THE HORDES OF HELL ARE PLOTTING AT THIS TIME OF NIGHT TO SEE HOW THEY CAN COME AGAINST YOU, HE GETS UP WHEN IT OCCURS, HAS A CUP OF TEA AND READS FROM THE BIBLE, THE WORD OF GOD, HE THINKS THAT THIS IS OUR FIGHT, AND GOD IS TRYING TO TALK TO US AT THIS TIME, IT MAKES SENSE, BUT i AM USUALY TO TIRED TO READ WHEN IT HAPPENS TO ME, SO I PUT ON THE TUBE, TRY AND WATCH A CHRISTIAN STATION, AND SEE IF THERE IS ANY MESSAGE THEY MIGHT BE GIVING ME, HAVE A CIGARETTE, WHICH IS NOT GOOD, BUT, BY THIS TIME I AN THOROUGHLY PISSED OFF AND WILL TRY WHATEVER WILL WORK.I SOMETIMES GO TO BACK TO BED, AND GO BACK TO SLEEP, BUT IT IS HIT OR MISS.

I used to wake up between 2am and 4am every night. The wake up was as if someone injected me with adrenaline. I was very alert and ready to go to war.(yet never been). I couldn't fall back to sleep at least until 5am. As it turned out a was infected with a parasite. After doing some research I found out that between 2 and 4 am is the time where they are the most active. I am not saying that this is the case here, but it could be. When it comes to frequent urinating at night I think it is from drinking to much water close to sleep, eating too much before going to bed or simply a regulation of sodium intake. Either stop drinking (minimize it) about 2-3hours before going to bed and same goes for eating. If it continues try using a little bit of salt with water before going to bed.( Morton, Sebree (iodized salt) Salt is the one holds the water the most,Celtic Sea Salt won't make you retain water as much). Hope this helps.

In traditional chinese medicine the liver meridan begins filling at 3am and completes its cycle at 5am. Its called the hour of the liver. Several things attribute to this wake up. Stress, yes. Liver overload like alcohol. I have heard that anti-depressants help as the changes the stress pattern for the liver. Yes, it can be a little eerie. When it first started for me years ago I woke up every night at 10minutes til three, regardless of bedtime changes, etc.

Correction! 3 to 5 am is the hours for lung. 1-3 am is hours of livers. My best advice is to find a chinese doctor.

This is the exact same thing that is happening to me. I have no clue what is going on but this has been going on for a large part of my life sometimes it can stop for months but it always comes back i have currently been suffering through it for around the last 16 months.

I've had the problem for the past 3 weeks also.
I wake up around 3-4 AM, and i have to wake up at around 6:10 to get ready for school.

How did i fix this problem?
Every night i would lie down, then empty my mind out, and just enjoy how comfortable the bed is.
Know your gonna get a good nights sleep.
If it still doesn't work, wash ur bedsheets and pillow cases, sometimes that has something to do with it. Also, if your drinking lots of caffein drinks, stop, because it's a proven scientific fact that it ruins and messes with your sleep.

I also wake up during the night and most times to the same hour minute as well. It doesn't fail, even if I don't stay up that long it really gets annoying. I heard about 3 being the time of the dead(spirit world) and that just spooks me out even more. It feels like I never get that 100% nights sleep, very rare. I've counted sheep, drank hot milk and tisane yet my automatic personal alarm is set, is there any answers to all this?

I wake up every night around 3am, (give or take a few). I have also noticed that I am very sensitive to areas with higher levels of energy. I just don't think I am ready to accept it yet. I am not ready to commit my time to it.

A different approach would be to analyze what insult in your life is causing 'grief' or more simply put 'stress'. If you are unable to focus and find out what the problem is, an external practitioner specialising in Applied Kinesiology Chiropractic or Neuro-emotional technique (NET) can externally diagnose the problem using muscle testing techniques and can also assist in releasing the chronic thought process which can stress/ depress you leaving you with depleated adrenals, headaches, muscle pain and restlessness.
Music, meditation and exercise can also give symptomatic relief.
Please note that these pathologies can occur in babies all the way through to old people so age isn't really a factor.

Waking up in the middle of the night is a very common occurance for a lot of people.
One of the best things to do is to not lay in bed and get frustrated. If you're not back to sleep in 20 minutes get up and do something relaxing/boring until you feel sleepy again.
Keep TVs/PCs out of the bedroom.
Practice a set, simple routine before going to sleep (brush teeth and read for 10 minutes ... something like that) and do it EVERY night. This will gear your body to start feeling sleepy and can help you get back to sleep when you find yourself awake in the middle of the night.
If you're continually sleepy during the day, wake with headaches, snore or have a family history of sleep disturbances, it's time to talk to your doctor. Many people are the last to know if they have a problem with sleep disordered breathing!

I have been waking up at 3am consistantly for the last month. It happens at 3am wether I fall asleep at 9pm, 2am, or anywhere in between. It honestly creeps me out to the point where I have not wanted to even considering dozing off until after 3! I have not experienced anything after waking up, but it is still too weird for me to be comfortable with.
