Am I the only one who sees this as a tax directed solely at the caucasion population? I mean,
how many brown people go to tanning salons? Sin tax? More like a caucasion tax if you
ask me. If the government wants to create a tax that would be used to fund an entitlement program directed at everyone then why didn't the government create a new tax directed at everyone? Say, like taxing water? Or air? Or bread? Or food? But tanning Salons, that
in my opinion is racist.

Easy to get around, change the fee structure:

1 cent for a montly package,$40 for cleaning and maintenance fee.

There is always a way around these kind of stupid taxes.

Notice how this is actually a tax on white people only.

This one was very petty. Just about right for the phony POTUS and his trash-talking of the American people.

This is totally a racist tax! Why not tax people who don't wear a seatbelt? That's hazardous to your health, not to mention the cost of emergency medical treatment after a crash. Oh wait, because that tax would apply to people of all skin colors. What was I thinking?

Indoor tanning is much safer than tanning outdoors! First of all, it is in a controlled environment. When a client first starts tanning he or she is only allowed to tan for a couple of min. The min. are increased depending on the clients skin analysis. It is better to tan your skin before going on vacation or working outdoors and burning your skin. Moderation is the key! The golden rule of indoor tanning is to never sunburn! Now the government wants to charge a 10% tax on indoor tanning? Just because Obama doesn't tan, he doesn't care about anything but collecting more money to help fund his ridiculous health care bill! This is just the beginning! Soon America will no longer be the land of the free! Something must be done!

As a tanning salon owner, I think it's B.S. Obama is discriminating against white people since most black people don't tan.

I agree with all of the above; but lets not forget about the kids...at our salon we promote Smart Tan for Teenagers....now...they ARE going to go and slap on the baby oil and get on that trampoline and fall asleep...as least those of us who tan or own a salon will know that we do the right thing with moderation....but no dont tan the cosmetic surgery industry and how many law suits do they have?????? Discrimination is not the founding of our country but I guess what goes around comes around....we help people but now tax those middle class more and let all those @#$() in congress, surgeons, and yes sex clubs keep going untaxed

thanks so much ---

"...Among the groups that worked to ditch the Botax was the American Academy of Dermatology, which spent a record $1.02million on lobbying in the first nine months of last year, according to data compiled by the Center for Responsive Politics, a nonpartisan, nonprofit Washington research group."
Guess what gang, that's the same industry that paid for some of the studies, claiming tanning is so bad. When there's billions of dollars to be made by the skin care companies they will make sure to scare you right into their offices.(Because they have tanning beds to treat certain skin problems and charge $150.00 per session... charged directly to your insurance)
So now we have a tanning tax that hits the very people they wanted to help... middle class women.
]Hey, while we're at it, let tax state parks where we lay out in the sun by their lakes and pools.

This tanning tax is indeed racist. If these taxation schemes were not re-distributionist - and retributionist - then the law would include a tax on all of the curl activator and hair straightening products that every Sister in the country uses. Goodness, I miss those sexy Afros, and especially that Angela Davis one from the 60s.

I spent the better part of three years getting a fantastic tan at the tanning spa. Of course they assures me that indoor tanning was perfectly safe. Well one small spot of Melanoma appeared and I have been through 13 years of hell: Chemotherapy, Immunotherapy, clinical trials, months of radiation treatment and 29 surgeries. At this time there is no effective treatment for advanced Melanoma. Perhaps all the tanning "sin tax" should be designated for Melanoma research as thanks to the Tanning industry it is the fastest growing cancer in the world!

Would it make you and others feel better if we taxed watermelon and fried chicken?
