This is another reason why we need less government. Ridiculous. Big Brother is coming I guess, get out of his way and nod your head like a good puppet.

I seem to remember needing parental consent to tan at 16, why is this not good enough for my daughter? Might have to put a tanning bed in my extra room....

When did we stop holding people, and parents, accountable for making good choices? Education on the issues are a must, but making so many laws against things because it "could" create a problem for that person is ridiculous!

While I don't agree that an outright ban is needed, I do think more oversight on consent would be a good thing. Currently, teens can take a consent form home and get a signature. I know when I was in high school, I was a master at forging my mother's signature. How about they just require the parent to come in and sign the consent form? I think that is a bit more reasonable.

It's personal choice. I work in health care, and if the parents and the "child" are consenting to put themselves at risk for developing skin cancer, it is solely their choice. Why get the government involved? It sounds so silly.

A bill for this and a bill for that. Good grief don't you people have anything better to do than set around and think up stupid bills to enforce.
If a parent gives consent for their teen to tan that is their right. There is nothing wrong with 16-17yr old teens tanning. Under that age, yes I think it's a little crazy to let a younger child use the tanning bed . What's next , are they going to pass a bill to say you can't be out in the sun. Some of these OHIO LAWMAKERS are total idiots

Ah, the glory of 18. Young lady, now that you're 18 years old, you can buy cigarettes, lottery tickets, & get into some clubs. You can vote, join the military, & young lady.. now you can tan.

Tanning just doesn't fit there.

Come on, they're going to find a way to look like a burnt piece of toast no matter what, why waste time making a law?

Wow! Before you start considering opening up a business, you may want to take a few courses in business. First class should be English Composition.

Hey, if parents are dumb enough to let their teens microwave themselves for thirty minutes twice a week, then so be it. If they're dumb enough to believe that SPF 50 will keep them from getting cancer, then so be it. If these teens want to look like they're 40 years old when they're only 25, then so be it.

Sorry, kids, but tanning is nothing more than cooking your skin - it dries out your natural oils and causes you to wrinkle and age at a quicker rate - and it doesn't matter if you lay in a tanning bed or out in the sun - the results are the same. A tanning bed will get you there quicker, however.

But should it be a law? No.
