Experimental Lilly drug may help schizophrenia

Full story: Reuters

These data suggest that mGlu2/3 receptor agonists have antipsychotic properties and may provide a new alternative for the treatment of schizophrenia WASHINGTON (Reuters) - An experimental drug that attacks schizophrenia from a completely new angle appeared to work safely in patients, without some of the annoying and dangerous side-effects of older drugs, U.S. researchers reported on Monday. Eli Lilly and Co. tested the new drug against its older drug Zyprexa and found it did not relieve the symptoms of schizophrenia as well, but also did not cause many of the side-effects, such as weight gain, cholesterol and hormonal changes. Dr. Sandeep Patil, Dr. Darryle Schoepp, who joined Merck and Co in March, and colleagues at Lilly tested the new drug, known by its experimental name LY2140023, in 196 patients. Read more

I have a 43 year old brother who was diagnosed schizophrenic 14 years ago, he has had his ups and downs since then, about 5 years ago he was put on the clozoril drug by his consultant, he is under the care of the state medical system and really does not have any say in what he is given as he is so drugged up, he is given 350 mls of the drug daily and has no quality of life, he can now just about lift a glass of water with two hands, yesterday he could not even put on his seatbelt in my car, he is very slow in mornings and is not much better over the rest of the day,,,,,,i worry is this drug slowley killing him or is there anything better can be done for him...he is a young man?

My sister is on clozoril and I feel it is slowly killing her as well. She is so shaky and drooling etc. Doctors tried all the other kinds and did not help her. Clozoril is not any better but has major side affects. Please let us know if this new med will be different.

Thanks!

Clozoril killed my daughter, she was described after her death as a 'susepible individual'. Her side effects were hyper salivation, slurring of speech, sluggishness, difficulty to rouse and more. She was given the drug in December 2005 and died early January 2006. Her inquest is imminent however the findings are certain that Clozoril terminated my child's life. This drug is dangerous and fatal.

good clean home grown pot is the way to go. along with a vigorous regiment of fruit, fish and vegetable diet, exercise and baloon blowing(seriously), weed is the king of the night-time cowboys and girls. c'mon everybody. let's pull together here and incorporate this blessed herb into the western mainstream mindset. it can't be any worse than the sick chemicals these filthy pharmy suits are legally pushing on our kids.
think about it.

Eli Lilly has received a huge criminal fine over their Zyprexa cash cow,add it all up comes to $4.6 billion, in Zyprexa settlements, fines, litigation.
We put Lilly products in our babies they really need to clean up their act and quit with the white wash.

Eli Lilly Zyprexa can cause diabetes
I took Zyprexa a powerful Lilly schizophrenic drug for 4 years it was prescribed to me off-label for post traumatic stress disorder was ineffective costly and gave me diabetes.
This is a powerful drug that can damage a young person physiologically for life.
Please take with caution and learn as much as you can about side effects.

WARNING-
If a drug (Zyprexa) lists anything about the pancreas among the side effects, it probably means it can cause diabetes.
Unlike your liver, the pancreas does not regenerate itself. If it gets damaged, diabetes is very likely.
Zyprexa is glorified Thorazine at ten times the price

Dear Danny,

Take my word for it. Horrid Zyprexa does cause sudden onset of pancreatitis as well as other horrible ailments all of which killed my late beloved husband.

Daily Horoscope for December 29

Libra

An emotional situation is as clear as mud today. You aren't sure about your feelings for a certain someone, nor are you convinced that you know what they're playing at. They may be saying one thing and doing another, and you might even suspect that they're playing games with you or trying to get what they can out of the relationship. Or maybe you're imagining the whole thing? Admit it - at this stage you simply don't know.
