I got scabies about 3 years ago from my ex-girlfriend. She said she got them from living in a lower-class living home. I have had them now for years and have tried all types of treatments. I have tried the creams, washed my clothes, cleaned my sheets, and it always seems like they have gone away except for the fact that I still have multiple red sores on the top of my thighs. These sores will nto go away no matter how many treatments I go through. The last treatment was three nights of Permethrin 5% Cream. And I still have the sores on my thighs. Any ideas???
Hi, I don't know who you are, or if you even still receive mails, but sores on the tops of the thighs is a WHOLE other condition. It has nothing to do with parasites. It is called furuncles or something, and could be related to diabetes. You need a topical and oral antibiotic and to have tests made to see the cause. Has not a skin or reg doctor told you that?

Hi Scabies in Aus,
Yes. I've taken it, as have many on the forum. The dosage is by body weight..about an inch from the tube is right for the average person. There is a lot of information about it on the forum if you want to know more. I can't remember which threads..but someone else may chime in soon, or you can do a search.
Good luck!

p.s. before you take it make sure that the horse paste you received is Ivermectin only..not with and additional de-wormer medicine added.

That's the thing though.. At first we were told it was scabies, then not, then told it was, then not.. We got so confused it's unreal..
But now we're like "oh, okay."
And my mom, being in denial.. let's my little sister and her friend STAY IN MY BEDROOM! Like 0_0. & when I asked her if she lysol'd it, she said no.. That's irritating..
That's most of the trouble I encounter.. My mom doesn't even understand the severity of it.. and it's annoying like crazy.
I too have that same problem i have it and have treated myself and made my family treat themself even if they werent itching. My husband thinks im paranoid and my mom didnt tell her best friend that she spends alot of time with so who knows if she is continueing to bring it back into the house giving it back to me? it is very frustrating when it is only reality for u and the ppl around u dont suffer like u do and do not understand the severity of it....well hope ur doing better.

I honestly feel like i'm an outcast from society because of scabies. I'm actually scared to approach women now days because if i involve myself romantically with them, i'm scared they will get it. I hate these things. I have had it for about 8 months now. Eff Scabies. I can't enjoy life with this and the treatments don't work. I'm going to try gasoline and a match.

Don't do that! I'm in the same boat as you are, but probably older, & recently divorced. Don't give up hope there is a myriad of options (cures) on here, with more appearing every day. Something has got to work. I hear Ivermectin is effective, but I still need to get my environment ready first. Have you tried 1/tsp of borax in a liter of water a day? Someone said (safe, non toxic) turpentine externally works. Have you tried swimming in the ocean (salt water) the mites don't like that, and possibly going to a tanning salon in between. Hang in there man!

UGH!! I recently moved to Seattle, Washington two months ago and now I have scabies. I went to the doctor yesterday and she gave me some of that pemetherin or whatever its called. As soon as I got home, I washed all of my clothes, bedlinens and vacuumed the carpet. At about 5:00 p.m I took a hot bath and covered my body in the cream. This afternoon at about 1:00 I took another hot bath and covered myself in the cream once more. On the tube it says 'one application usually curative", I really hope so. This itching is driving me crazy. I am really embarrased about these parasites. I have no idea where I could have contracted these damn skin dwellers. The doctor and even the pharmacist told me that I would still be itchy at least a week after the application. I am at my wits end and I really hope this application works otherwise I will have to make use of the refill. I am a 23 yr old lady and am really scared to interact with anybody, scared I will infect them. Where the hell did these damn bugs come from? I wish they would just go to hell. Sorry!

These meds do not kill the eggs; so, I would suggest to you to absolutely get the refill filled and apply it in 7 days. It's better to be safe than sorry, especially with these monsters from hell.

Ok, so it is day 3 since I started the treatments.... I just called my pharmacy to refill the prescription as directed by Aaron. (thanks by the way for your response) I have read almost most of the posts and I am really scared about trying all of the other methods. I am currently looking online for the spray to spray all of the furniture and carpet. Since day one I have taken at least two baths in almost scalding water and scrubbed my body very thoroughly. I have noticed that my raised bumps and open bumps have gone down and I dont itch a lot like before. I believe I had the scabies for at least a month before I seeked medical attention. My bumps on my elbows are now scabbing over and look like dry skin not normal scabs (black crusted over) I am so relieved that I am seein some sort of progress. I am going to get the prescription tomorrow but I am not going to put it on until Tuesday next week. In the meantime i am washing all of my clothes, towels, blankets, etc. I will keep updating and posting the changes i see. I really hope I can be of some assistance to anyone out there with these same bastards.... like you all have been to me. I really appreciate all of the help I have read and good luck to all.

Hi WA newcomer,
If you haven't already, try to find some 10% sulphur bar soap for use in the shower between your treatments and for a short time afterwards. It is inexpensive and helps a lot.
The one that I used is by a company called Grisi and is sold at certain drug stores that have a hispanic products section (Walgreen's has it in my area)..also available on-line. Until you get that you can use dandruff shampoos containing selenium sulphide as body washes, but the bar soap is less toxic. http://www.amazon.com/GRISI-Sulfur-Soap-with-...
I've heard that warm baths are better for this condition than really, really hot baths. I'm a big fan of the arm & hammer detergent baths with a cup of 3% hydrogen peroxide added, but I was dealing with animal mites, not regular scabies...you may not need to go there if you have regular scabies.
There are all sorts of methods and product combinations for furniture and your environment in the threads here too.
Best of luck to you,
Armed

Thank you Armed I really appreciate all of the advice.
I just ordered all of that stuff and am waiting for it to arrive.
Just came home with my prescription and will put some of it on today before bed and the rest of it on Tuesday, the week since I started the treatments. Last night was great I actually got some sleep and didnt wake up scratching.

bird mites!!! very common confusion causing resulting in unnecessary anguish and expense. check out bird mite !!!!!

i've had them both. here's my best tip for a good night's sleep :
make sure you have clean beddings, clothes dyer heated
have a hot bath adding two cups of apple cider vinegar, this will exit many of them. blow dry yourself completely with a hair dryer. then rub pharmacy grade sorbolene from head to toe, all crevices, And finally rub nizoral shampoo into your scalp and leave it there (contains ketaconazole anti-fungal, very useful, a selenium sulphide is fine). you'll be amazed !!

the hardest part is the daily labor, also the most important part. when you read success stories, the survivors worked their guts out. be organised, be regimented. use your brain to scrutinise your procedures and get tougher. declare war and do not give in. one day you'll be free.
