I will tell you that when I went in to the 7th dermatologist who told me I didn't have scabies (although the 1st one said "possibly" which got it stuck in my head) told me my breasts were just really dry after I told him I felt crawling on them. I hydrated internally with water, and externally with coconut oil & the crawling/itchy feeling stopped- but not on the rest of my body, which is why I'm doing the 2nd round of permethrin tomorrow. The crawling has decreased significantly and pin pricks as well. I almost feel like not doing the 2nd app, but I'm just going to finish it off & leave no room for self doubt.

I have done 2 treatments and I am doing another own day 7 I don't know if it is scabies but I will try anything at this point. I also keep lotion on and put olive oil on after my showers it feels better not sure which is helping . Not as itchy but still a little when it starts itching I put lotion on and it helps . I am not taking any chances I am doing another treatment at day 7 and might do again at day 14 I just want it to stop and not ever come back. I just hope I can't stop it and not have it come back

After reading many studies on scabies, it has been determined that permethrin alone is not workng for some immunocomprised patients. Ask your doctor for Stromectol ivermectin tables (with 2 refills) and use this along with your Elimite Permethrin Cream 5%(2 refills). Ask the Dermatologist to biopsy your active areas, to determine exactly what you have and to rule out things you suspect you have. If they don't biopsy, then they are only guessing and you may be treating something completely different than what you think you have.
Always consult a qualified medical doctor. Show him copies of stuides you have read from the net.
Good Luck.

Some docs hate that. I did that and this doc was soo pissed all she kept saying you don't have a parasite, you have scabies. She didn't even want to look at the paper studies.

Hi I'm another victim of this menace. I just found out I had this. It's been seven days since I notice the little pimples. I have used one tube of perm, and on my sec. I can't find the s shape burrow that I have read about. I do have tons of little bumps all over, I mean everywhere. I'm trying to limit my walking around the house. I have put my remotes in plastic bags, freeze my wallet and other things. My PlayStation controlers are in a bag also. I started washing my clothes with borax, and soak my glasses in it. I'm really scared, I have two kids and a fiance. I haven't seen them in weeks. I feel traped alone. I vaccum daily change my sheets and clothes in cycle. My mom got it and I feel horrible, the worst son ever. I'm afraid. I cry all the time. I'm a guy too...used to soilder for U.S. Army...been to Afghanistan faced a menace, but I always came home. Now I'm here and can't be around anyone. I'm trying my best to keep my head up, but thoughts of stuff have been popping in my head of suicide. Im feel disgusting, dirty, and hopeless. I joined this too see how people are copeing with this. I don't know what works what doesn't. I'm trying to keep track of spots, but I have a lot. I'm at a lost, but I think it's fair if I read your story, then I should share mine. Please keep posting so I can get new ideas other then what I'm doing. Thank you all for the things you post, even the little fighting is cool, I see I'm not the only fed up on here. You guys are my Heroes.

So yeah im in the Army and my PA said it could be several different things. I got several diff meds and alas nothing worked until i went to the ER and they diagnosed me with scabies. Let me tell you what....If you have it in the genital area it takes FOREVER to kill them bastards...Seriously ive been using perm for like two months and the lil buggers still havent died. FML i hate scabies i don't wish them on my worst enemy. Naw nvm let the taliban have em hehe

Wait at least a week to use the perm again, and also i read your supposed to apply to cool dry skin. I didnt know this and I applied after a shower all 3 times its ok to take a shower before just wait a little while after and let your skin cool down. We are doing good after our treatments my itching has calmed down alot its normal to itch up to a month and even longer in some cases its also normal to still get a few bumps just try not to freak out and keep an eye on the bump. I read that if it goes away in 3 to 4 days then its probably post scabies if it spreads then your probably reinfested. I am so glad I stuck with not over treating I wanted to treat over and over but I stopped myself. The permethrin 5% is toxic and shouldnt be used over and over although some people do. This is one of the hardest things I ever dealt with. Its an emotional rollercoaster. My son had it all over and his skin is as smooth as a baby now and I couldnt be happier. This has really changed my life. I dont think the same at all. I feel like I just want to help people get through this like everyone on here helped me.
You are SO nice. Thanks for the info.:)

I need help & advice from anyone who's willing to give it! My boyfriends mom brought home a 10 week old puppy named Ceela. She had really dry skin & it looked as if she had dandruff and she was scratching all over. She's part chihuahua, and she was shivering one afternoon in the living room while Mom was asleep. I felt bad, so i wrapped her inside my shirt...her body was touching mine, and i was simply doing this to warm her up.(I am a HUGE animal lover, so i couldn't help it!) That night, I went to bed, and I woke up a little itchy. I didn't pay much attention to it because at the time, we didn't know Ceela had sarcoptic mange. About 4 days after my itchy started, mom brought Ceela to the Vet they scraped her skin & confirmed that she was absoultely infested with sarcoptic mange. I searched for several nights if its possible for dogs to spread that disease to humans and cats. Some sites said yes, and some sites said no. I'm still not sure if my cats have it & I CAN NOT afford to take them to a vet at this time. Just to be safe, i've been staying away from the cats & keeping them off my bed & out of my room. The only time i go near them is to feed & water them daily. They do scratch themselves, but they also have fleas so it's hard to tell if they're itching from fleas or mites. My boyfriend seems to have it worse than me. I've used Permetharin cream once so far, and it's helped tremendously! I still itch here & there but from what i've read so far, I think it's my body still reacting to the mites and their feces. My boyfriend took a cold shower & then put this Permetharin cream on as well. He also said it helped him a lot, but he still does have a little itching.(IT'S DEFINETELY NOT AS BAD AS BEFORE!) I have like 2 little red bumps that feel kinda hard on my uppper thigh and I was wondering if any of you had hard bumps like this, or if yours were just plain bumps that felt like a bug bite. My boyfriend has more bumps than me but he says they don't really itch that bad. Neither of us have noticed "S-Shaped" bites or patterns on our skin. We've washed our bedding with HOT water and dried it on HOT for 45 minutes. Neither of us feel things crawling but yet we still have bumps & itch a bit. Is this normal? Does anyone have advice? Please reply to me, and help me. I am so desperate & I don't want this to get worse!):

Oh yeah, one more thing I forgot to add. I DID A LOT OF RESEARCH ON HOW TO STOP THE ITCHING.
Here are the tips i've done for myself & it's helped:

1) DO NOT take hot showers/baths.(it only makes the skin drier & itchier)

2) Bathe/shower in cold water.(Not freezing cold, just as cold as you can stand it. It'll help soothe the itchiness.)

3) Use Calamine Lotion. I've been using it & it helps. Don't put it on w/ a kleenex or pad or anything, just massage it into your skin like a regular lotion & it'll help.

4) Even though you've washed your bedding, ALWAYS sleep with sweatpants(or just long pants) on & a sweatshirt & socks that way if there's anything in your bed, they can't get to you as easily.

5) Taking benadryl helps, and so does taking an allergy relief tablet. I bought Equate Allergy Relief (they're little bright pink pills). You can take 1-2 tablets(12 years of age & over) 4-6 hours. They do make you drowsy(the boyfriend said I was snoring so loud about 20-30 minutes after I took 2 last night! lol) But they do help relieve the itching.

***PLEASE REMEMBER THAT THIS IS WHAT I'VE DONE TO HELP WITH MY ITCHING, AND THAT IT HAS HELPED ME BUT YOUR SKIN MAY BE DIFFERENT AND IT MAY TAKE SOMETHING ELSE TO RELIEVE YOURS.****

Animal mites are different then scabies, that's why you don't see the S-Shaped burrows. Does your bumps feel like pimples? After treating with perm a lot of people get pimples, it's the debri coming out, and you itch for about 2-4 weeks after uding perm. You have to treat your pets and environment if you don't you will not get better. Be aggressive now so that this does not linger for a long time.

hi
Permethrin cream/lotion have the same effect after and after. some basic cleanliness we need to follow.
1.) after waking up,remove your dresses and throw it into washing machine. Take bath. apply permethrin in the affected area alone not at all the other area.
2.) Go for work/study after coming from office/college
remove the dresses and take bath. now apply at allover the places before sleep
do it on the 3 day the step 1 and 2

Never touch the clothes used for the above 4 days till next week.

Thank you so much for answering my questions! We went to a clinic and got diagnosed. They are mites biting us. We've used Permethrin twice so far. Every time my boyfriend touches our cats, he breaks out in little bumps like he did when he touched Ceela (the dog w/ mites). I've cleaned all over my house for 3 days. Done a lot of laundry. It's still in our house b/c we still itch here & there. I don't have it bad & neither does my boyfriend. But we're still being precautious to stay away from the cats until they're treated. Thank you again for letting me know Permethrin causes pimples...After i put some on my face, the next day I had like 3 big hard pimples on the side of my nose & face. They looked horrible but went away..I'm just thankful they weren't bites or burrows from the mites! That would be horrible.

No, don't use it until 5 days after your first treatment. Even though you used your shoes that the mites may be in, the Permethrin will still be active in protecting your skin & killing the mites. Even after you use Permethrin, you'll still be itchy for 2-4 weeks. That's because your body is still reacting to the mites and their feces. Even though, they're dead in your skin, it'll take awhile for them to decompose. I wish you the best. I'm glad i'm not the only one dealing with this situation. It gets to be so annoying and time-consuming!

I had scabies and used the cream a lot. I tried the instructed 7 days between application but no improvement seemed to happen. I then used it a further 10 or so times over a few week period and at one point 4 days on the trot for the stated 8 hours. After each application at some point I would get a tingling sensation on the end of my nose which lasted for hours up to half a day. I think I'm now scabies free but still get the odd red itchy mark which I am hoping is all the dead mites and faeces coming out of my skin. It's a horrible thing to happen to you and drives you mad and can make you paranoid as you really don't want to pass it on. The cream may have worked on the first or second application but it takes so long for it to settle as your skin has to renew itself and get rid of all the dead mites, eggs and faeces that it can leave you not knowing has it gone or not which is what happened to me. Its now a couple of weeks since I stopped the cream and I now have permanent tingling in my nose. I hate to think what I have inadvertently done to my nervous system. I am hoping I have rid of the scabies and that the tingling settles down. Hope this info helps anyone who reads it.
