Permethrin 1% - Head Lice Creme Rinse

I went to the doctors a few days ago with an itchy rash on my forearms, underarms and torso. I was diagnosed with Scabies and prescribed Permethrin and instructed to leave it over night, then wash it off and clean my linen in morning and repeat in one week. This all seemed ok to me.

However, when I collected the Permethrin from the pharmacy I was given Permethrin 1%- Head Lice Creme Rinse. I used it as prescribed two days ago and haven't noticed much effect, if fact the rash seems to be getting worse.

My primary concern is that Permethrin 1% rinse was prescribed by mistake and I should have been prescribed Permethrin 5% cream. Does anyone know if Permethrin 1% will be effective at treating Scabies or do you believe there may have been a mistake with my prescription?

Went back to the pharmacy today and they confirmed there had been a mistake with the prescription. I was re-prescribed Permethrin 5% cream.

Do you have any physical symptoms? I don't other than intermittent itching in random places.

Yes I have itchy red rash on my forearms, under arms, legs and torso. I have also experienced general irritation on my chest and upper legs. Detailed symptoms of scabies can be found here:
