Has anyone had Greenlight prostate surgery done by Dr. Thomas Williams of the Sarasota Urology Group? If so, what post-op results have you experienced?
Don, google Dr. Thomas Williams to see what has been blogged about his PVP results.

I have never worn pads. Carried an extra pair undies with me. First 2 days, I wore two undies at the same time.
Drink carnberry juice, and take cranberry capsules. The name of the game is to PREVENT urinary tract infections post PVP.

I looked at Sarasota. Some group that used the Hospital. It had poor Patient safety Rating so I went elsewhere.

I decided to go under the procedure because I had urinary difficulties and I had catheter. But in 2009 I had operation of the heart, 3 heart valves were replaced and a pacemaker implantation was done so the classic operation was not appropriate for me.
I heard about Hill Clinic in Sofia, Bulgaria (in our country it's the only clinic, who has the greenlight laser) and decided to be treated with Green laser. Before that I was with catheter for 14 months!!! It is very irritating and painful, the catheter was replaced every month, sometimes there was blood, it was difficult to urinate.
I have done the procedure one year ago, in 2011 and luckily I feel great! I am very grateful to the doctors who have done the procedure and I wish courage to all men in this forum.

I had the Green Light Surgery December 30 2010. I left the hospital with a Foley which I was told I could remove myself the next day or wait until next week and it would be removed by my Uroligist. My urine was not going into the bag but going on the outside making one heck of a mess so I went ahead and elected to remove the Foley myself the following day. I found that I could not urniate at all and went to the emergency room @ 3 in the morning. They reinserted another foley. That gave me some relief but due to bladder spasums I pushed out my hemroids and am dealing with that problem at the same time. On my next Urologist appointment they pulled the Foley and told me to go home and drink lots of water. One hour and 120 ounces of water later I was back at the uroligist office doubled up in pain because I could not urinate no matter how hard I pushed...They reinstalled another Foley only without the bag and told me to come back in a week, I am draining the Foley manually. I have so far missed a months work,am in jepordy after Feb. 28th of losing my job and medical benifits. Its really got me scared.
Are you still having problems and who was your surgeon?

Bill Thanks. He claimed to have done 300 in the 80-100 grain size. Well known for his off shore

TO Rockman:
I don't know what 80-100 grain size is but my prostate was so large that I went into retention and I thought my bellie would burst. It was as large as it could be.

That's it. Over 60 is max most Dr's can handle
100 and over for the top 5%.
Pub Med Article states measurements over 60 tend to be 25+% low. Because of the way it grows up into bladder etc. Normal is 20-25g

Rock:
Mine must have been t the Max. The doc only gave me 2o% chance of recovery. That my bladder muscles would never come back with enough strength and I would have to wear a Cat the rest of my life.

But--praise the Lord My muscles regained there strength. Good luck to you.

I had G Light laser in Dec 2010 and by early 2011 had severe scarring and infection. The infection was so bad I had to have 1 month of antibiotic treatment with several drugs at once.
After that the scar tissue was dealt with but within 6 mths it was back again with severe infection again.
It looks like I am looking at the possibility of another operation and I am on antibiotics again for the past two weeks.
The publicity given to this treatment seems to be OVERLY INFLATED AND MADE TO LOOK BETTER THAN IT IS.

Greenlight surgery on Jan. 9th. Had some bleeding and discomfort for first 2 weeks then gradually getting better. Passed some scar tissue a few times but no problems. Went from 3-4 times per night to now 1-2 times. Urgency during the day is much less than before surgery. All in all I feel that it was a successful operation up to now. I had the surgery done at John Hopkins, Brady Urological Center, in Baltimore by Dr. Pavlovich. After just 6 weeks I am pleased with the results.

I had the greenlight procedure a few years ago, and am sorry I did so. There is now no, or very little pleasure in ejaculating. That was very disappointing, as I always had wonderfuly pleasurable sex. Plus I still am on the same prescription meds and get up at least twice a night to urinate, and sometimes more. Now I seem to dribble ever time I go. It is really frustrating. The doc who performed the surgery had plenty of experience and had even worked at the Mayo clinic with the individual who started the procedure. But I would not do it again,if only I had the chance.

SAME BAD DEAL AS OTHERS-Had greenlight surgery 5 weeks ago. Retrograde ejaculation, but honestly thats the least of my problems. Urgency every hr about,so I guess we have to give it 6 months and hopefully it will correct.
Any guys had the surgery and agree with a 6 month time period?

I had PVP surgery in Toronto June 15/2011, i still urinate about every hour.I just saw my local urologist and he told me that the results of a recent ceto showed scaring at the bladder neck or sphlinter. I was not sure which he meant although i did ask him three times. My local uro suggests that i have the TURP procedure done to clear things up but informs me that i would probably loss my ability to have an erection..i already have retrograde ejectulation. I am returning to Toronto this coming June for a yearly elvaluation. Can another PVP operation clear up this scaring or just make it worse.Has anyone had PVP done a second time to clear up scaring..any positive outcomes.

I had my green light on Thursday and came home on Friday afternoon. I passed the empty of the bladder test in the hospital prior to release. Since coming home my flow has been week and I feel like I have to go every 30 minutes or so. On Sunday night I had some blood come out. Man I am down in the dumps will call the Doc on Monday am.

Looking for someone to cheer me up !

You need a little light relief at the moment and one of the best ways to find it today is to get together with someone who always makes you laugh. You might even want to tell them what's going on in your life at the moment so you can get their perspective on it.
