GreenLight Laser Surgery Complications

I had the Green Light procedure 65 days ago and am continuing to deal with complications. The doctor says I am emptying my bladder, but I still have frequent trips to the bathroom. There is even less warning than before and the urgency is greater than before the procedure. The amount of urine is less than before the procedure. Also about six weeks after surgery I stopped ejaculating and my organism are less intense. The first six weeks were quite painful. Perhaps I amy the unfortunate case, but this was far more complex and risky than I was led to believe. I'd look at other options if I could go back.

I could not believe the posting from Bruce. I had exactly the same procedure and am now dealing with the exact same problems...but my doctor had told me there would be no dysfunction !!!

I had surgery Jan 27th and have since been dealing with the same problems plus a urinary stubborn urinary tract infection.

I had the surgery done on April 23, 2007. I'm also having the same exact problems. In addition, I can orgasm but no longer produce sperm. The doctor is treating it as a urinary tract infection but even with medications, I find no relief. If I can go back in time, I would never have the operation.

procedure on 10/25/2005 and was left with retograded ejaculation and the same problems of urgency,dribbling, etc.that I had before. Recently, the scar tissue it had left behind grew and virtually closed off my bladder reguiring surgery on 6/12/2007 to open it up. Heres hoping that this will be the end of this!

I have suffered the same, urgency and incontinence since having the procedure 2 months ago. These sied effects were not detailed ahead of the procedure.

I had the surgery in the beginning of May and have had three urinary tract infections since than. I also really don't feel that much better than I did before the surgery. The doctor insists that I am better because I am emptying my bladder but even though I still seem to have constant urges. I met with the urologist today and he advised I may have adhesions and need a procedure again to remove the adhesions hase anyone had that done?

To those with bad PVP Green Light outcomes: It depends critically on the competency of the surgeon. Here one friend had PVP Green Light done by an incompetent practitioner and went through hell. The ablation was incorrectly done, causing failure of re-epithelialization on one side of the urethral wall. All doctors are not created equal! Other friends who have gone to S.T., MD in Miami and to the Mayo Clinic (inventor of the procedure) for Green Light treatment have had outstanding results.

Lew: I had my surger in the middle of January and just went yesterday to the surgeon with the same problem (scar tissue). He tell me I will also need additional surgery to correct the problem. Let me know if it worked for you?

My husband had the surgery now 4 months ago and still has urgency problems, no infection has been detected and the bladder emptying is reported as normal. I am a very supportive person and really feel that this is affectign his quality of life. We hope that the urgency will stop but we have no idea how long this will take. On the plus side no retrograde ejaculation. But his quality of life is down at the moment.

I'm going to see my 'new' urologist for a check up on the 26th to see if the corrective surgery he performed is working. So far, every thing seems O.K.
I'll let you know!

my only problem is: I am considering having surgery. Has amyone had good results?

I saw my the urologist who had to surgically corect the laser damage(scar tissue) on 6/6/07 on the 26th for a followup and so far, no complaints!!

Planning on having Green light surgery in two months. Has anyone had experience with Dr. Richard R Vanderslice at Hilton Head Island Hospital,SC?
Please share your experience if you have.

Had the greenlight zero side effects, am I the lucky one, everyone I talk to has nothing but positive feedback, I cannot believe all this stuff for your guys I am so very sorry.

I had the green light laser surgery in May 07 and have had marginal improvement, and it left me with retrograde ejaculation. My advice is try every other option available before you have this done. I wish I'd never had the surgery.

Good news, my husband is now fully recovered fromt he surgery. No more urgency or dribbling and normal ejaculation. While we have been through a difficult few months he feels it was worthwhile.

I'm having Laser surgery this Mon. Aug.27. My Dr. is a lady. I have had this restricted condition a long time,I take pills twice a day. My major probelm is the fact that somedays I'm good, other days I'm not. I'll post my results after next week.Sorry to hear about others with post operation problems.
