On March 10th 2008 I was confirmed to have Pancreatic Cancer. Via a Phone call, The doctor told me I had approx. 3 months to live. I expect a phone call to confirm a doctor appointment, NOT GET NEWS LIKE THIS.

I was able to have a Whipple Procedure, which was performed at Boston's Mass. General Hospital. It is VERY Important to have this done at a HIGH Volume Cancer Center. For example, This means that they do approx. 300 Whipple Procedures a year compared to 3 a year that might be the case of your local Major Hospital.

PRAISE GOD, PRAYERS of Many, Miracles and Angels, and Prayers to Saint Peregrine, the Patron Saint of Cancer Patients!

My last PET Scan on Feb. 1st 2010 shows No Sign of this Evil, Fast Killing Cancer. NOTHING! ITS GONE! My Faith in GOD is strong and Thank You to everyone that shared in my healing through their Faith In GOD!

A Note to Everyone: Susan Sommers is a WACKO. SHE is one problem in this worl of Cancer. Another problem is when Doctors GIVE UP. They tell people to go home there is nothing else that can be done. WHY STOP??????? If some one has Cancer and they still want to FIGHT, LET THEM FIGHT! Run that POISON into their veins. Aim That Radiation, TURN IT UP!, Burn it up! IF IT WERE ME, I WOULD NOT STOP FIGHTING TILL I WAS DEAD! Glory to GOD, Cancer Doctors need to get more organized. Wake UP! everyday is a new Day! But get organized. Ive been in places they act like its all new to them and they guess what to do next. GET ORGANIZED.

On April 23, 2008 I had the Whipple Procedure. April 23, 2010 I am a 2 year Survivor since the Operation. Since Diagnosis, Its been 2 Years, 44 Days. Gonna Grow Old.

I wonder 'why me'. I follow the Pancreatic Cancer Support Group at DailyStrength ( dailystrength.org ). I pray so much. Please God end this terrible thing. All the sadness. I was there. I felt it. The pain is unbearable. The pain of Love.

OMG Moffett Cancer Center in Florida?? Yes GO!Try so Hard to get a PET Scan. Its a VERY important Scan. I have only had One. You are injected with a Radioactive substance and left alone for an hour in a secluded room. The technician/Nurse will return to get you and you notice that everyone stays Far FAR away from you. They instruct you how to get into the scanner (Like an enclosed MRI). This is a Head to Toe scan and approx half way through you will feel like your body is floating and being turned completely around. I was so shocked when I got a copy of the scan on disc. There was an animation video and when I pressed 'play' I SEEN my body turn completely around. It was incredible. With that test, your body can be viewed from every angle and in slices. The technology in amazing. At the very very least Radiate and Chemo. even if it appears to be gone. Dont take your eyes off this stuff. it is Evil, a destroyer of Families. Please, Always give praise to God for each day. By The Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ is the only way to Live. and don't anyone criticize me for that. If for only its a beautiful way of Life, at least Live by His Teachings. I don't know the survival numbers of Pancreatic Cancer but its gotta be less than 1%. GOD BLESS YOU DENNIS! ScottNY (I recently moved to ST. Augustine and then maby West?? in a year or so. LIVE!!!)

Hi Dennis,

My grandmother was just diagnosed with pancreatic cancer on 7/16, although her doctor did not indicate the stage. She is visiting an oncologist today for a biopsy and staging (although we fear it is stage four, and that she will not be eligible for the Whipple). Can you give me information on the type of treatment you received? What you have written seems like her best-case scenario, and I am really intrigued to learn more. My email address is katie.r.korhonen@gmail.com, if you want to reply directly. I wish you all the best as you or your loved ones fight this horrible disease.

My mom had the Whipple procedure on Aug. 30, 2010. She is having so much fluid built up and has had it drained twice. She is going again today for a dr. appt as she has been in such pain for days. Unable to eat or even get up. They keep saying she will turn the corner any day now. What was y'alls recovery after the Whipple like? Thank you. We are in Houston, TX in the care of Dr. Fisher. My mom is 61.

ScottNY I also had Whipple Surgery done by Dr. Fernandez at Mass Gen. April 30, 2010 and for a little old lady in her 70's am doing remarkable well. I have wonderful family support but live independently on my own. Had a couple minor set backs going for a Cat Scan this week have my fingers and toes crossed.

Ginger (TX), After my Whipple and during recovery in the hospital (for fluid complications) I had 3 drains left in place. and a line in my nose to my stomach. I believe 2 were drains for the incision and one was for the pancreas. Over the time of a couple days, one drain was removed. Then the next a day later and the nose one was removed. These were a very uncomfortable experience when they were removed. When I was released to go home, I left the hospital with the one drain left in, the drain for the pancreas. I was only in the hospital for 5 days. I returned to Boston a week (or so) later to have the staples removed and my surgeon removed the final drain. I closed my eyes and prepared myself for what I expected to be a jolt of pain. The DR. talked with me through the process and I told him I was ready. and he said it was already out. He told me to go home and Live. Of the lucky, I was at the very top of the list. I know he was just using an example. Dr. Fernandez is a Very special person and my Faith in God was in good hands. Ginger, Ask about a medicine called MEGACE ES to help increase appetite. Its a liquid and its taken one teaspoon a day.

Have none of your doctors told you about the non-invasive Cyberknbife system which is able to access the liver and pancreas, delivering accurate high density, highly focused beams of radiation, causing minimal or no damage to surrounding, healthy body structures.
Plenty of info on the internet.

My mom was just diagnosed with stage 3 pancreatic cancer. Surgery is not an option at this time, because the cancer is wrapping around some major veins. She just had her first dose of chemo and they are hoping to shrink the cancer and then do the surgery. she hasn't eaten anything for 4 days now and drinks only enough fluid to get her pills down. She just lays on the couch. Yesterday was her 52nd birthday. I pray that we are able to celebrate many more with her.

Scotty, I also had Dr. Fernandez preform the Whipple on me. Feb.26, 2010. I'm still alive and healthy. I owe it all to him. He saved my life. It's been 2/12 years and no setback, and that too, is due to him and how perfectly he performs these surgeries. To me, he's the closest thing to God. God put him here on earth for a reason, to save people like me. People want to hit the lottery. I hit the lottery when I met Dr. Fernandez. I thank God every day for this man.

My father has been diagnosed with stage 3 pancreatic cancer. They say they need to cure his jaundice first, do a chemo, shrink the tumor and then perform a surgery. We are in India. Just want to know if I can hope to see him pull through this. He's 59. Any information is welcome. Thanks
