I have a great one!! I was in a massive car accident and it took 2 neurosurgeons, a plastic surgeon and a sports-medicine practitioner to put me back together. I suffered 4 herniated discs and a shattered tailbone & was literally over an inch shorter afterwards. Anyways, I was flagged for "doctor-shopping" during that period even though no prescriptions I was written overlapped with another. I was humiliated but by no means as much as I was when I was scheduled to see a specialist after developing seizures and he refused to even see me! I was in the exam room and he told his nurse to tell me to leave! I have been a nurse for 15 years and have never taken pain meds other than after my accident and a c-section for my 11-lb. son. I currently have a formal complaint with the CA District Attorney but, as with most government dealings, I will probably never get a response. Meanwhile, my doctor assured me there is no incriminating info. on the letter but then again, he actually took the time to read it. But BEWARE! It is illegal for anyone to remove those letters from your records but I'm damn sure going to try!

I was recently charged with selling narcotics and dropped from my pain dr. What happened was "friend
" asked me to get her a frew pilld from someonme else (nothing to do with my meds) SI i did after her begging fir days. Well she had bben in troublw and had to get someone doing soemthine. SO she set me up with the police, They dropped me and now i cant get the meds i need. I had a 2 level fusion and still have pain, have nerve damage and failed back surgery, and just in pain all the time. Is another pain dr going to see me with this charge hanging over my head? I cant take care of my kids or house and i ahve no meds. I have docunmented pain issues. I have an appt wuth another dr but i dont know what i should tell him? can HE DEA block me from gettin pain meds prescribed to me??

I live in the worst place for pain! Literally been told that and if there isn't a red flag system then I want to know what's there. Had surgery in December, hysterctomy complete. And had to agree for the surgery in the belief that was the only way to convince my doc I was seriously in pain even though screaming and weeping during the exam wasn't enough for her. I literally read my chart there that said "drug seeking behavior" based on what they believe is not appropriate pain level, the crying, and I am serious here, that when I left the office I got on my cell phone and would sit in my car for a minute. Surprise after I questioned that I never got to read my chart again. Truth here being at the time I was going through this my husband was a truckdriver and I was crying to him on the phone. Let's not figure on the number of xrays, ct scans, lumbar puncture, mri's and various therapies and antidepressants taken in order to prove myself to still be sitting here at 4 am can't sleep for the pain. Very depressed! I can name u a dozen people who could walk into the er and get whatever they wanted:( I think I have about hit my breaking point!

There is a such thing as red flagged. I've been seeing a pm dr for 6 months. Before I was seeing my regular dr. who referred me over. I had a contract with the regular dr. and then went pm dr. and signed one with him. I called my reg dr back and told him to void our contract. I've been going to the pm dr. regularly. I had two sets of injections. I am feeling about 40% better. I recently has a abcess in my tooth. I went to my pm dr and said the dentist gave me a script for pain but i didn't want to break the contract. He told me as long as I have a accute problem that can be fixed and I need that extra I can fill them. If It goes past a certain time with different drs. Then you are in violation of that contract. Also I was perscribed opana 30 and they were too strong so went back to pharmacy three days later with 15 mg and they said as long as you have a different stregnth the insurance will fill. Hope this helps.

A letter from the DEA? How obsurd. I would call my doctor and as long as the GP knew about the surgery and what RX that surgeon worte I would think there is no problem then I would call my local newpaper What a crock of chit that the feds are wasting taxpayer money making sure that you dont take too much meds...that just angers me beyond belief. I had doc's that ok'd my early refills before it shouldnt be a problem.

sorry Welcome to Natzi America

Could anyone just answer the basic question? Everyone is so busy being sure everyone knows they are not "Dr. shopping" or not an "addict" that NO ONE GIVES ANSWERS.

CAN ANYONE JUST STRICLTY ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS?
*If your dr. fires you d/t multi rx and muti DR do you have a red flag?
*Does the pharmacy call all providers?
*Does the system automaticly flag you so all Drs. and pharmacies know?
*Is it a law that you can not get narcotics at all if you have a red flag?
*My Dr. office told they were "notified" 2 days after I called for refill.

I'm sorry I sound so mean but my goodness 2yrs and this blog only provides info of everyones pain issues, how it happened and its not their fault.

My problem is that my husband went to prison for a crime that he didn't commit. He was riding shotgun with some jerk who stopped off to buy some pills on the way to give my husband a ride home from his mom's house. The guy got busted but they got my husband for conspiercy and now that he's home he's red flagged and NO dr will see him. He's dying with hep c and many other health issues that leave him in tears every day. I watch him suffer in pain as he lays in our bed sweating and stays a pale ghostly white and his skin clammy and cold and all I can do is hold him and cry with him. I'm enraged at the thought of the dr.'s oath of do no harm but they all let him lay here and slowly die in indescribable pain. We've been to Dr after Dr begging for help but each time the red flag pops up they all turn him away with a smile and an I"M SORRY. I know that I shouldn't, but I wish the same horrible thing to happen to each and everyone of them who have turned him away, who could have helped him and just wouldn't. How do I find him a DR now? Before it's too late?

for one if u live in jasper for real then u will have to go outside that little town and go like in birmingham. If all of his docs have been associates with one sort of health care agency seek a doc in another agency. Pay outta pocket and lie about havin records. Thats all i can think of rt now

Yes we live in Jasper FOR REAL and we've been everywhere just short of B.ham. I've got requests in for him all the way to the Miss state line in the other direction and it's getting really frustrating begging these jerks to help to save his life while they sit there judging him and playing God. I just need the name of one kind DR who maybe interested in giving us some hope, not drugs.

The DEA does not target individuals unless they are selling their drugs. They don't have the time nor staff to engage in such issues as alleged above. There are physicians being targeted by the DEA if they are prescribing for a non-medical purpose.

So I see I'm not the only person possible red flagged because if the hard shit I have to go thru jus to get a vicodin...it really hard to get pain treated now a days, from me being homeless, I have had to go to diff drs and ers or pharmacies in walking distance. So my lifestyle n hardships these drs don't know, don't care, don't ask, just red flag me. Where n who can I write to n talk to to explain my story. They need to know, I feel like they are red flagging people who potentially don't deserve it. Help!
