In March I was diagnosed with MRSA at T-12 of my spine. It was located in the lymph nodes. I am allergic to vancomycin so I was put on an IV combo of zyvox and Daptomycin. Two needle aspirations were unsuccessful. Surgery was done to "clean out" the infection. Initially all was well, however, the MRSA returned. This time it is anterior and right of L-1. Apparently either the needle attempts or the surgery damaged nerves that inervate my abdominal muscle and I now have bulging, untoned muscles increasing my waist size by no less than 3 inches. I have constant pain in my back. The most recent MRI showed 3 pockets of infection. The ID doctor discontinued the Zyvox and now I receive 100ml of daptomycin daily. If you have any information that might help please email me at williamfspecht@yahoo.com

I had back surgery on my L5 S1 the lower part of my spine, my staples were taken out on a Friday, come Monday I was in so much pain I didn't even know my name, I had staph in my blood stream. I stayed in the hospital for a little over a month. I started getting better, of course I had to do antibotics at home through a port in my heart vessel. Chritmas I was up walking, feeling great, except a little back pain, I have had 5 back surgeries, 2 in my neck and 3 in my lower back. But the day after Christmas I could not walk again without a walker or someone basically carrying me. I now have MRSA in my soine, between my vertebrates. Stayed a week in the hospital, and now I am home giving myself Vancomycin 1000mg twice a day for the next 3 months...hoping this will work!

I have had an infection in my T6 and T7 since Sept 2011. We have done 2 biopsy ad all have come back normal. Started an oral Avelox, blood work come back to normal range. After last biopsy, had PICC line inserted and started on IV daptomyocin and cefepine. Daptomyocin affected my muscles to where I couldn't pick up anything, and cefepine has dropped to 1.5, have stopped them. Vancomyocin has now gave me RED MAN Syndrome. all meds have been stopped. They think I have osteomyletis, but not sure. Anyone got any ideals for me?? Thanks.
