I just want to point people to a site that I put up that contains good information regarding mesothelioma. It is at http://www.infobriefs.com/mesothelioma.htm . Please take a look at it and let me know if there is anything that I can add that will make it more informative.

Thanks,

Jason

Mesothelioma True Story and Support

Forty five years after being exposed to asbestos dust, my husband Brian was diagnosed with pleural mesothelioma and given a prognosis of 3 to 9 months.

Determined to ease his burden, I put into place a pain and symptom management plan that was to dramatically improve the 'quality of his life'.

Testament to this; despite his prognosis of 3 to 9 months; Brian survived for two years, continued to live at home, remained active and alert and was not bed bound until 3 short days prior to his death.

If you are caring for a loved one with mesothelioma don't feel helpless - there is so much you can do to improve the quality of their life. You can make a difference.

I have written a book titled 'Lean on Me' Cancer through a Carer's Eyes, about Brian's courageous battle with mesothelioma and of my 'emotional journey' as I cared for him and improved the quality of his life.

'Lean on Me' which is highly recommended by cancer councils and palliative care organizations world wide, includes the methods and tools I used to control Brian's pain, plus many excerpts and poems from my personal diary in which I wrote daily throughout the 2 years of Brian's illness and beyond.

I have written my book in the sincere hope of bringing inspiration and strength to others.

'Lean on Me' is not available in book shops - you can purchase it online through my website
www.lean-on-me.net
Dr's recommendations and Reviews available onsite.

Mesothelioma Cancer risk Factor

There are large number of risk factors for mesothelioma. A risk factor is the factor that increases the chance that a person may develop a disease. Having a high risk factor does not guarantee a person will develop mesothelioma, it only increases the chance of developing it.

Some of the main risk factors are :
1.Asbestos Exposure
2.Smoking and Asbestos Exposure
3.Radiation
4.Zeolite
5.SV40 Virus

1.Asbestos Exposure:

Working with asbestos is the major risk factor for mesothelioma. A history of asbestos exposure at work is reported in about 70 percent to 80 percent of all cases.
Asbestos is the name of a group of minerals that occur naturally as masses of strong, flexible fibers that can be separated into thin threads and woven. Asbestos has been widely used in many industrial products, including cement, brake linings, roof shingles, flooring products, textiles, and insulation. If tiny asbestos particles float in the air, especially during the manufacturing process, they may be inhaled or swallowed, and can cause serious health problems. In addition to mesothelioma, exposure to asbestos increases the risk of lung cancer, asbestosis (a non-cancerous, chronic lung ailment), and other cancers, such as those of the larynx and kidney.

It generally takes 20-50 years for mesothelioma symptoms to present themselves after a person is exposed to asbestos.

<First off, I am appalled by the "spamming" of much needed informational resources by foreign nationals. Who is seriously going to really look into resources internationally? As a son of a hard working WWII, true Blue-Collar American worker, PLEASE don't mind these off-shoring advertisers who are trying to spread and clog our much important health forums and blogs.>

With that out of the way thank you for your attention.

My father was a shipyard worker in the 80's for the Long Beach Naval Shipyard. He was not diagnosed with Mesothelioma until nearly a decade later. He lived to see his the birth of his first granddaughter, however his health ultimately declined immediately after. As the eldest son, I took it upon myself to educate myself and scour as many mesothelioma forums, blogs, and resources I could find regarding about my father's illness. I'm not one to plug a site, but I found only one site that stood out from all others: http://www.personalinjuryfyi.com/mesothelioma... or the homepage for other useful resources: http://www.personalinjuryfyi.com

Take a look and see if that site is helpful for you in your long road to justice. Believe me my mother has 5.2 Million reasons to be thankful this site led me to our victorious lawyers. I am passing this along to all those who are researching or are in need of a little extra help for those we care about.
