What would the infusion of $50 Billion do to advance researh on heart disease, cancer, and "REAL" killers of millions of humans for 1000's of years vs a disease that 99.9% is aquired from personal choices to have sex outside of the security/sanctity of marriage?

So women who acquire HIV from their cheating husbands are making a personal choice. I guarantee that accounts for much more that 0.1% of HIV infections. Moron.

Reality is that in Africa, a large portion of cases are those who were "being good," not engaging in prostitution, drug use, or homosexual sex, as is the case here. So yes, there are a lot of innocents involved there.

That noted, government "help" generally fails to differentiate between innocents and those who have "earned" the disease, so I don't know how much we're really going to achieve with that fifty billion bucks. If we were helping people implement Uganda's "ABC" program, sign me up. If it's more SIECUS "give 'em a condom and then anti-HIV drugs," let's keep our money at home.

And yet Congress (Democrats)will allow no bill to be brought forth for a vote, that contains ANY legislation to expand oil exploration back to 1970 levels!

Yet another case of the U.S. playing World Daddy, while being incapable of providing for their own family!

Get Out The Vote!

Trying to see if your "can't save the world" belief extended to the military. You seem a little defensive about this - lighten up. It's a message board.

Consistent - unsurprisingly, you missed my entire point. Also unsurprisingly, you have made it clear that you understand nothing of the dynamics of HIV transmission in Africa.

I dont mind the $50 Billion as much as I mind the fact that we cannot honestly state why AIDS is so rampant in Africa, or discuss who the # 2 group of carriers are in America, after the Deviant Homosexual Males.
Black folks in America are the #2 carriers of the disease. Africans in Africa, behave much like their cousins here in America.
The cultures are not very different.

It is not coincedental that these cultural groups share the same result, from the same choices in behavior.

Pump all the wealth in the world into Africa, or all of the disease carrying "communities", and it will not change a thing.

The disease is not medical....it is Cultural!

Geez, how long did it take the CIA to get AIDS working well throughout the world, now this liberal Bush wants to, symbolically, throw money at it as if it were a problem. That dudn't make any sense.

What a waste. Most of the money will wind up in the bank accounts of tinpot dictators and corrupt UN officials. Then again, it might be a source of covert funding for CIA ops.
Either way, it's excessive. 50 billion here, 50 billion there, pretty soon we're talking about real money.

Um, "Consistent," being black does not transmit AIDS. Exchanging blood and/or semen (possibly other body fluids) with an infected person transmits AIDS.(tragically a lot of blacks do get infected, but they get infected the same way anyone else does)

The actual #2 group for infection, by the way (possibly #1, it's close), for AIDS infections is not blacks, but rather IV drug users, prostitutes, and their "johns." It's one group, more or less, because the behaviors of being a prostitute and using IV drugs overlap so much.

(so much for the "happy hooker" myth, by the way)
