What? People still get the Plague?
Although plague is often thought of as a disease of the past, it remains a current threat in many parts of the world, and the number of countries reporting plague has increased in recent decades.

They should stamp-out "Moronic Plague".

It"s still out there.

It's puzzling that this doesn't yet seem to have touched western Europe - at least, not according to the map that accompanies the article. I suspect that there may be an inherent genetic resistance in European populations, but that doesn't explain the absence: there has been a massive influx of migrants there, from Asia and Africa. Any thoughts?

There are numerous cases reported every
year in the southwestern part of the U.S. Fortunately it is the less deadly bubonic plague rather than the 'black death' pneumonic type. Seem to be mostly flea borne from rodents, rabbits, etc. |

Back in the 70s when the price of furs were sky high I trapped coyote and fox for a living. At the same time I contracted with the Federal Disease Control Center in Ft. Collins, Colorado to take blood samples from each animal I caught for testing for the bubonic plague. Turns out about 30% of the animals had the plague.
The plague has always been around and always will be. Today, if caught early enough, in most cases bubonic plague can be cured. However, if it enters the lungs -- pneumonic plague -- as far as I know there is no cure and death is the end result. |

This is why we have exterminators to rid us of fleas in the house...the yard is different...don't buy a pet if you can't take care of the infestation that might occur. Technology has helped us but that doesn't it has eradicated the problem.

No Surprise at all. The USA has had several cases of the BBONIC (Black) PLAGUE in Texas and other States, due to the Illegals bringing it Across the Border. Other Unchecked Immigration has spread it further along with a plethora of other Maladies and Diseases.
With Controlled Immigration you have Medical Examinations and background checks. With this Illegal Invasion we are experiancing, comes not only potential Terrorism but the aforementioned other problems. |

Unsanitary conditions at the time in Europe and the Fleas on Rodents, spread the Bubonic Plague, later more correctly Idenified as the Pneumonic Plague, throughout Europe.
It is commonly referred to as, the "Black Plague". (cue the music) Incidently, Nostradamus gained much fame by Instructing how to and successfully Treating those affected. |
