Spring is here! As we get ready for another season of outdoor activities such as gardening, hiking or hunting, it's important to protect ourselves from ticks that may spread such diseases as Lyme disease, Rocky Mountain spotted fever or other less common but potentially serious diseases.

The old adage was that a cold winter would reduce the tick population, but the winter of 2009 - 2010 didn't reduce them, and it seems that this past winter didn't, either. We found them on ourselves or the dog all winter this year.
