If this perp is from monroeville, how did he end up in town. Family, friends, he had to be in town for a reason? Right?

The only other thing that comes to mind, he's a roaming criminal, but i find that hard to believe.

New faces in town, especially the renting type means even more chaos brought into this town. If the renters of these slum holes come from "bad" places, you can bet that they have friends visiting from their original "bad" place.

Lock your doors, maybe even twice. The u-haul trucks are arriving on a daily basis and it seems as if nobody gives a damn. Public insight and vocalization of this issue, is deeply needed to prevent Glassport from this depression.

The next phase i forsee happening, Glassport Housing Authority, Chumming thee poor people in with affordable free housing, in which they perform the mission they are set out to fulfill "SEEK AND DESTROY". Once this class of people are here, mine and your opinon will be futile. Save alot food stores will push out Foodland, Ralphs car wash will be refounded as a rim shop, the laundromat will build two more stories to accomodate these people, and fuzzy's will sell blunts and forty's instead of lunch meat and hoagies.

This plague is happening as we read this, In my opinion the people of this town need to revolt and take back what is deemed Ours, Our town, our life.

Man in custody for donation jug theft

A former McKeesport resident wanted for allegedly using a 10-year old boy to help steal a donation jug and other items from a store in Glassport has turned himself in to authorities.

Douglas Keith Hubbard, 34, was arraigned Thursday in Night Court on charges of retail theft, criminal conspiracy, theft by unlawful taking and corruption of minors.

Charges stem from an incident Wednesday morning at the Hot Spot Mini Mart along Monongahela Avenue. Court documents indicate Hubbard currently lives in Monroeville.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Magisterial District Judge Armand A. Martin’s chambers.

A surveillance video shows a man and a boy stealing the jug that was set out to help a woman who needs a lung transplant. Approximately $400 was stolen with the jug.

The jug and others like it were dis­tributed to area businesses by Chuck Dibler in order to help raise money for his wife Loretta’s medical bills.

Dibler said his wife takes about eight medications regularly, is on oxy­gen and is need of a lung transplant.

Since the incident, he has collected all the donation jugs in an effort to prevent the theft from happening at other locations.

“I hated to see this happen,” he said.“The way people are now, they’d shoot you for a dollar.” According to the criminal com­plaint, the cameras show the suspects entering the store at 10:20 a.m., walk­ing to the back and “making a game plan” before stealing several items from the store.

The man who later was identified as Hubbard took the donation jug from the counter, placed it on the floor by his foot to hide it from incoming cus­tomers and the cashier, and the boy later picked the jug up and left while being concealed by Hubbard, court documents indicate.

Glassport police said the boy, report­edly from McKeesport, is expected to be charged in connection with the incident. Charges were unavailable at press time.

The video tape also shows the two coming back to the store around 11:33 a.m. and stealing a gun from the shelf and drinks from a cooler, according to the complaint.

The complaint also states Hubbard told police he would turn himself in Thursday at 2 p.m. after meeting with an attorney in Pittsburgh. The complaint also states Hubbard cried and said the money from the jug was gone, that he has a problem, and was stealing from another store as he was talking on the phone to police.

Glassport authorities said he called the borough police station and the magistrate’s office Thursday, but did not show up.

Chuck Dibler waited outside the Glassport station and Martin’s office for hours hoping to catch a glimpse of the man who allegedly stole from his wife’s medical funds, but Hubbard was not seen.

“He’s too chicken to come here I guess,” he said.“I hope he gets his rewards.” Borough police left the station in search of Hubbard, who later turned himself in downtown. He is being lodged in the Allegheny County Jail on $5,000 straight bail.

A Friends of Loretta Dibler fund has been established at Huntingdon Bank at 600 Monongahela Ave. for those who wish to donate to the family.
