Hi, newbie here!
I have had pneumonia six times this year (never had it before this year). I have been fighting this last bout since November. Dr finally put me in the hospital for 1 week, xrays look the same and I am actually feeling worse despite IV antibiotics and steriods. I came home 2 weeks ago and started new alarming symptoms. I have sever headaches (never had them before) daily, facial swelling that comes and goes, severe constant pain to my R middle back and R chest, fatigue, and loss of appetite. I had to stop steroids r/t swelling in feet, ankles, hands, and face with a 15 # wt loss. Previous to hospital I would go into Dr office for IM inj of antibiotics and steroids. I had week f/u after hospitalization and xrays show no improvement. Dr put me on 2 antibiotics, pain meds, and told me to come back or go to ER with increased pain, sob, or if mental fog worsens. I have smoked fo 15 yrs. I have continued to work through all of this as I dont know what else to do. I can only take the pain meds at night r/t I am an on call nurse and do lots of driving. I do not let on to my pts of course whats going one, but in my gut, as a nurse I am affraid this may be lung ca. So when do I push the Dr's to start testing me for lung ca??

Unfortunately it sounds like a lot of the same symptoms my father had when he was diagnosed with SCLC with SVC syndrome. He now has pneumonia that just won't go away, and they have put off any further chemo until he gets better.

You should have started pushing them weeks ago...if you haven't done so already....DO IT NOW!
God Bless You.
