My sister in law has been put on hospice and has been having pain in her back and stomach from her cancer. She had one lung removed five years ago...and the cancer has now spread to her other lung and other organs. The doctors have stopped all treatment on her. She is now only receiving pain meds to make her more comfortable. She has her good and not so good days. Being a realist, I know that Naxavar will not save her life at this stage of her cancer, but will it prolong her life with more days of quailty...or will it just be more days of misery? Your comments and thoughts PLEASE!

My dad has RCC with metastases in the lungs and has been on Nexavar for the past eight months off and on. His side effects were really bad for a while but now except for the stomach upset he's doing fine. The tumors in his lungs have been contained so far. But unfortunately we have been informed that Nexavar is now going to be directly available in India but at a much higher rate - more than we can afford - which means he cannot take it anymore. I was wondering if anyone knew of any assistance program which can help him to continue on Nexavar.

Hey..
My dad was suffering from lung cancer and he passed away a month back. I have a pack of sealed NEXAVAR shipped in from USA. As its of no use to me, anybody in need can contact me for it. I m residing in Chandigarh, India.
The cost will be relatively low.
Thanx.

My father is 72 years old and is now a Dialysis patient. He has a high blood pressure and had done angioplasty in 2003 and had 3 stents on his heart. He is recently diagnosed with a tumour on his liver. Doctor suggested to take Nexavar. With all the side effects of Nexavar, Will it safe to take the medicine considering his health condition? Any comments will be highly appreciated.

My husband Cal has been on nexavar since last fall and his AFP narker has fallen over 12,000 points. He has been feeling better and has began to eat again, his fatiqe is still a problem but that has even improved. Cal was given a terminal diagnosis in Nov 16th 2005. He has HCC but through prayer,Dr Rath vitamins, carrot juice daily, and now nexavar his good days have been more than his bad days. Cal also suffers from esphofcal varices, Hep C. and cirossis. Is ther any more we can do?
My dad has been diagnosed with HCC and the tumours are many ranging from the largest at 10cm down to 1cm. He is going on Nexavar and we are wonderig if all the horror stories about side effects are true. What was your experience life? We are all really depressed about his life expectancy but you seem to have beaten the odds so far? Many thanks

I have been on Nexavar for 4 years. And I have metastasized renal cell carninoma. I have lost most of my hair. I take carefully dosed probiotics against intestinal upsets (diarrea). I also have hand and feet syndrome that can be bad in spite of the creams that I pour on my feet in particular. I sometimes stop taking nexavar for a week or so when it gets too bad.
But I have a pretty normal life...so far

Go directly to the manufacturer (Bayer), they will supply Nexavar at no cost to those in need. Ask the social worker or patient advocate at your hospital or clinic to assist you. I am very confident they will help. Good Luck.

Thank you for your blog. I am new to Nexavar, 2 months now. I'm interested in the carrot juice. Is this something he enjoys or was it recommended?

Also, my liver cancer is bile ducts and primary liver cancer. The tumor is in both left and right lobe about 10 cm across. So I can't have surgery, I did have chemo-embolization and now Nexavar. I'm waiting for the latest CT results to see if anything happened to the tumor. I am 50 with 2 young kids age 9 and 14.

You can get Nexavar in the US. But you have to have it ordered from a pharmacy in Illinois. My dad was given 1-3 months to live back in September. He also had embolism treatments.2 as of now. We found out today, that the Nexavar may be wearing off, and they may stop the medication all together. They say it is like a sleeping aid. your body gets use to it...after a certain point. (He has primary liver cancer.) They dont know if they will do another embolism treatment or not. We find out in 4 days. But I can say that it has helped. He has had none of the serious side effects. Just nausea, and trouble eating. The drug now available in some states..Marinol has helped him gain back some weight and his eating habits are better then before he found out he had cancer. But I Feel him falling backwards again. Anyone who has cancer, or knows of someone who does. Pray for us. WE are praying for you all....

I have stage 4 kidney cancer, for the last 3 1/2 years and have been on Nexavar for 2 years and 8 months. I had really high blood pressure but was already on meds for it so i take a blood pressure pill called clondine with the Nexavar, I did loose some of my hair but not all as it was falling out it was also growing back "curly". I had the rash, the itching, my balls of my feet calluse over alot, had some diaherra, but found out my problem with the diaherra was because I had gallbladder taken out and had a problem with biosalt diaherra which made it so much worse, so all of this is under controll, I still work 5 days a week and 7 hours a day, with no problems, I feel great everyday and life goes on.Don't let the cancer get you down,YOU have to go on and live your life as if you have a slight cold, you can do this, if I can do it so can you. Life is good, it's worth living for!

This sounds like an amazing drug. I wish that this drug could work on all cancers. I wonder if clinical trials ( http://www.rapidmedicalresearch.com
) could be done for that...
