What used to be medical trash is now treating cancer. The University of Virginia's Medical Center is the first place in Virginia to take advantage of stem cells from umbilical cords and they are pleased with the results.

This is one step in the right direction.

Anyone facing the daunting prospect of cancer treatment would be well advised to consult the "U.S. News and World Report Best Hospitals List" and see which hospitals might be best for them. I like this survey since it takes into consideration where doctors say they would want to be treated for a disease. This site is a great place to start your research for treatment.

"hehe": I am sure the local vet will welcome you. They specialize in 'animal' health.(I wonder what happened to comment #5 by Joe). Anyway, Charlottesville is fortunate to have a state of the art medical center with brilliant and dedicated medical scientists. In addition, the staff are professional and diligent with a common goal to improve outcomes with the patients' quality of life in mind. "Hehe" take note: people travel just to take advantage of UVA's services. Local and distant hospitals refer their patients to UVA with issues they cannot tackle. Hehe: I'm sure a local vet would do the same with you, too!

wow. absolutely incredible. so exciting for those who are suffering. wondering if they yet do stem cell transplants for SCI patients at UVA. have two friends suffering from that awful condition. can anyone answer this question? thanks.
