I got samples of Rozerem, and I slept really well. Doc told me to take it 2 hours before I want to go to bed, and literally 2 hours after I took it I was sleepy and ready for bed... I love it.

I have been taking ambien for 3 years and it does help but I do feel that I have built up a tolerance and it is no longer as effective. My doctor prescribed Rozerem which I took for 3 weeks and it did help me fall asleep but I would wake up 2 or 3 hours later and was wide awake, couldn't go back to sleep. Also I have had severe acid reflux since taking the Rozerem, has anyone else experienced that? I think there are far fewer side effects with the ambien.

Rozerem sucks big time. How anyone would put this crap on the market is beyond belief. If you want to stare at the walls all night this is the product for you

has anyone experienced bad panic and anxiety from ambien?
I was on Ambien for many years. Built up a tolerance to it, I was finishing my months prescription in three weeks. Which was bad. Was having some memory problems, and even though I've been off of it for about two weeks my mind isn't 100% back.

As far as the anxiety attacks, yes, I started getting them. Unbelievably bad. I went to the hospital emergency room because I thought I was having a heart attack. I racked up about a $10,000 bill there, luckily I have health insurance. I had no idea it was the Ambien, but when I went off of it for a few days on my own it stopped. Heart racing, palpitations, this overall feeling of being "wound" tightly, almost to the point of thinking I was going to need to be put in psychiatric evaluation. It was the worst thing I have ever experienced. If I were to tell my Dr. that it was the Ambien, he would totally think I'm insane, he's a big believer in almost any almighty pill. But, like I said, they stopped about a 24 hours after I took my last dose of Ambien.

So now, I can't sleep. At all. He put me on Lunesta, which works okay most of the time. No bad taste in my mouth, but I've noticed that I have to take it on a reasonably empty stomach for it to work. So I don't eat at all after 6 pm. I've been on it two weeks with his free samples. So if I want to continue, I'm sure my health insurance won't pay for it, and I'm sure it is expensive.

I'm hoping there are more natural alternatives. Maybe I'll try rozeram.

I wish you all success in sleeping peacefully. This forum has helped tremendously in providing information, and I thank you all for posting your stories.

This was posted a couple years ago. How is the sleep going these days? What med have you found works best? Thanks!

<quoted text>It took me a few months to really get past the weird dreams and not sleeping through the night, but it has been well worth the effort. I have relied on sleepaids for 40 years and finally have something that is not addictive (Rozeram) and I am clear headed all the time. Also, my memory problems have subsided, which I believe had a lot to do with Ambien.
Now I fall asleep in 15 minutes, sleep all night and wake up feeling great. Another tip to sleep is establish a brief bedtime routine and stick to it every night.

I tried Ambien CR, woke up feeling like I spent the night in a dryer with the worst hung over feeling,(headache & nausea) worse, when I went into my kitchen I found a half eaten stick of butter and a missing 1/2 gallon of milk. Based on the teeth marks on the butter and that I live alone there was only one person who could have eaten it.
I was worried when my Dr prescribed Rozerem, but I was averaging only about two hours of sleep a night. I had a hard time falling asleep, and would continue to wake up. I've been taking Rozerem for a week, and while I still wake up from time to time, I don't stay awake for hours on end now.

Not everyone becomes tolerant to Ambien. It kills my stress and helps me sleep. Yes im hooked but the alternative sucks! I suffer from chronic stomach cramping because of stress and Ambien helps a lot!

I have suffered for years with insomnia. I have used Trazadone, Seroquel, Klonopin, Anbien, Lunesta, Ambien CR. Many of these meds gave me unwanted side effects. I too developed a tolerance to Ambien and Ambien CR did not do the trick. I did some research and found that Prazosin which is used for antihypertension has been found to help combat vets with PTSD to help with sleeping, and nightmares through the night. It isn't used to get to sleep but it helps to stay asleep. I have been using it for a short time and it seems to be doing the trick. I use Ambien to get to sleep but am considering using Remeron in place of the Ambien and continue with the Prazosin. The worst thing about Prazosin is it can lower your blood pressure so shouldn't be used if you have low BP.

I have been on Ambien for several years. Yesterday the doctor gave me samples of rozerem. He said it was not ahbit forming. Usually with the ambien in conjunction with a klonapin, I can get to sleep. last night I took the rozerem for the first time. It made my body feel tired, but my mind was not at rest. I ended up taking a half dose of ambien at about 3 a.m. I felt very out of it today and now at 4pm, am still feeling a bit funky. I think I will stick to the ambien.

I have tried both rozerem and ambien, and I like rozerem better. When I take ambien, I keep waking up during the night, I don't when I take rozerem. Also with ambien, I get a "drunkish/high" feeling.

My earlier post I said in error that I was going to try Remeron I meant Rozerem. Thought I should clairfy that. It sounds like there are a lot of positive comments on the Rozerem, so I think I will try it because the Ambien no longer has any effect on me and Rozerem ( according to literature) does not have the withdrawal and side effects or addictive properties that Ambien has. Also the literature states Ambien is not to be used as a long term aid for sleep so perhaps that has something to do with building up tolerance and requring a larger dose. Some nights I have to take two tablets and this is not good.

I have insomnia, and the only thing I have taken so far is Ambien. I took it years ago, circa 1998-2000. Frankly, it scared me away from sleep meds altogether. The problem I had with Ambien was sleepwalking and performing activities I did while awake, only performing them very poorly. And I would have absolutely no memory of these events. I was online with friends and they were convinced I was either drunk or on drugs. I would try to cook; the next morning, the kitchen looked like a war zone with raw eggs on the floor, stuff all over the countertops, etc. Thank God I never took to driving in this state. I now just deal with the insomnia and use "tricks" that help me to sleep. Some of these are avoiding eating a lot after 6 p.m., cutting down on nightly liquid intake, using the bedroom strictly for sleep (no TV/computer in bedroom), exercise regularly (but not close to bedtime), ambient/soothing sounds (I like ocean waves), avoid sugar and caffeine after dinner, warm bath, warm milk, "Sleepytime Tea by Celestial Seasonings, etc, etc.

I was just given rozerem today to try to replace the ambien. I am positive I became addicted to ambien and have been quoted as saying "I wish I could feel this good all the time because I always feel so happy on ambien" to my husband after taking it. I was certainly an ambien-high munchie eater and have had many, many hallucinations while on it. I used to purposefully stay away on it just to feel good.
It instantly relieves my stress.

But, now I can't naturally relieve my stress nor can I sleep without it. The rozerem is the alternative given to me by my sleep doctor. I'm scared to try it since I read about those horrible nightmares. I have had horrible nightmares when taking anti-malarial pills when traveling. I don't want that same effect.

I think I'll have some valerian root tonight. It sometimes gives me a stomach ache and sometimes gives me weird dreams, but never horrible nightmares.

I didn't become dependent on ambien until after about 6 years of having it on and off. I would recommend it if you don't have addiction problems or you use sparingly and not as an anti-stress method AND a sleep aid. Only in the past month did I start to feel the hangover affect from it. The no-hangover feeling I used to get from it is why it was so good. Now I get that hangover feeling from ambien.

Good luck everyone.

i have taken ambien, lunesta, klonopin, melatonin, and rozerem for my insomnia which is related to PTSD from deployment. they all tend to work differently and all have different effects. for example, the ambien worked great at first but lost its kick very quickly. lunesta didnt help me fall asleap, but would keep me asleap if i did happen to fall asleap. im currently on rozerem and i dont really like it much. it doesnt keep me asleap very long, although it does help me initially to fall asleap. i wish it were safe to take lunesta and rozerem together. maybe someone will come up with something like that one day.

I have a chronic insomnia. I did a sleep syudy two years ago and it showed that my sleep is stage 1 and 2. I only had nine minutes of REM sleep. I tried so many medications but nothing seems to work to my satisfaction. I just wonder if there is something that can help me with my problem. I feel very depressed and stressful.

Lunesta gave me a rare and horrible side effect of intense anxiety. I was having constant panic attacks and my heart felt like it was going to explode. I really thought I was dying. I didn't know that these symptoms were due to the drug, as I was going through a lot of stress during that time of my life and I attributed it to that. But after a few months, I stopped taking Lunesta and ALL of those symptoms went away!!!
