I personally have had this happen over a period of several years, and looked up this ingrediant, and found out it causes severe health problems.
Just Google " Splenda Dangers " and you will learn the rest!! |

I like to say sucralose, not Splenda, because that is what Splenda is. And it is in a lot of stuff. The package doesn't have to say Splenda to have sucralose in it. You have to read labels.
About 3 years ago... Every morning at work, I would make myself a cup of coffee. I mixed two packets of Splenda® in my coffee. In addition, I used Coffeemate sugar free French Vanilla liquid creamer, which also contains sucralose. I would drink two to four cups of coffee a day. My anxiety was extreme and I could not stand it anymore. The best way to describe the way I felt after drinking one cup of coffee with sucralose in it was that it was like drinking six cups of coffee. My heart was pounding and my anxiety was soaring. I decided to stop using caffeine and start drinking decaffeinated coffee hoping that this will help. Therefore, one Monday morning, I started drinking decaffeinated coffee. I made it the same way I did with the caffeinated coffee, two packets of Splenda and Coffeemate creamer. After drinking it, I felt exactly the same way. I complained to the person in my office, who is responsible for ordering the coffee, that, the decaffeinated coffee she purchased was not decaffeinated but was really coffee that had caffeine in it. I continued to drink the decaffeinated, without any reduced nervousness. Frustrated, I decided to drink caffeine free chamomile tea. I picked this type of tea because it is supposed to have a calming effect. I made the tea with two packets of Splenda® and no creamer. After drinking the tea, the overwhelming anxiety started up again. This is when I finally realized that the only thing that was the same between all of these drinks was the Splenda®! I immediately stopped using Splenda in my coffee. It was amazing. The overwhelming anxiety went away immediately. I used sucralose for 6 years and I had a number of medical problems as a result. Ready for this: Overwelming anxiety, depression, mood swings, confusion, memory losses, diarrhea, constipation, cramps, fatigue, back pain, joint pain, numbness in arms and legs, blurred vision, insomnia and heart palpitations. I went to a gastroenteroligist, had a colonoscopy, and other gastrointestinal test. I was put on medication for about 3 years. I went to a psychiatrist and was put on antidepressants and anti anxiety medication. My back pain and the other symptoms, I just dealt with. I contributed all my problems to the natural aging process. Today, I feel a whole lot better. Although, I believe I have suffered long term effects of taking sucralose. I learned that the FDA does not protect the American people. That sucralose is a poison. It saddens me to see that children are using this stuff. That there are hundreds, maybe thousands of people who are using it, have medical problems and don't even know that they are caused by what is in those yellow packets. carbon monoxide - made from oxygen so its like a breath of fresh air. |

I wish I had read this thread and all the blogs I've been reading sooner. It seems like I'm the last person on the planet to not know that Splenda is poison.
Six-Seven wks ago I started on Atkins, which I have done in the past with great success. I was drinking many products with Sucralose too, including Vita Rain, Crystal lite, Atkins shakes and Torani syrups. I began having aches in my joints, and never made the connection. The doctor said it was Bursitis, but when I googled Bursitis it didn't sound at all like what was wrong with me. I got a Glucosomine-Chondroitin-MSM drink and started taking two tblspns a day, which ALSO had sucralose in it. I was so much worse every day, and finally found the sucralose connection by googling joint pain blogs and noticing that a lot of people were saying that theirs didn't go away until they stopped drinking diet soda. Researching it further I found the connection. Today is the first day without sucralose poisoning my body in almost 7 weeks. I have been drinking lots of water, almost 3 liters yesterday. I still can't put all of my weight on my left leg so I am walking with a cane. I basically went from a very healthy person to a crippled person in less than two months. If anyone is searching for answers online and finds my story and realizes it's your story too, please detoxify your body and get rid of all sucralose(Splenda) products in your home/office. I hope I can be healthy soon, and yeah, keep this crap from our kids and everyone we know. Spread the word, maybe a class action suit is in order? Oh, and one more thing: I have not lost much weight like I have in the past with Atkins, but this was the first time I dieted using Splenda. |

I use Splenda and Aspartame thinking it was better for you than regular sugar. I have been having endless health problems and not knowing why? I eat healthy and exercise regularly and yet my back hurts, my joints hurt, dizziness, heart palpatations, skin tingling and numbness. My doctor has tested me for arthritis, B12 defiicency, sent me to a neurologist for tests including MRI and EMG. Nothing to report except live with it and we will test you again in a couple years if it persists. After reading what sucrolose and aspartame can do I have to wonder is this has been the problem all along. I am now going to totally stop ingesting it and see if I notice a change in my health.

Splenda/Sucralose caused me severe problems physically, mentally, and emotionally. I have pages and pages of correspondence with Johnson & Johnson/McNeil Nutritionals. They could care less if you have suffered side effects from the use of Splenda. I would love to get a lawyer to chase after them. I am debating on filing a complaint with the Attorney Generals Office. I have already filed a complaint with the FDA and FTC.

I am a person who fights the proverbial "sweet tooth" 24-7. Having developed Type-II diabetes a few years ago, i began drinking diet sodas. This past spring I finally listened to my wife who was sick of listening to me complain about insomnia. She pointed out that when she was in college, she knew a pre-med student who would take phenalynine to stay awake for long shifts at the hospital. I finally listened and started drinking seltzer water. Now, I have tried various remedies for things over the years that we all hear of, and waited to see the dramatic results that you are supposed to notice within days, never to avail.
Except this time, I noticed within a short time that I felt better. I am sorry that I did not note the time. Sleeping, mood, performance at work...all better. Placebo effect? perhaps. Well, this afternoon I went fishing with my Dad and brother and drank a "naturally flavored" water. I was driving and did not read the label carefully enough...sucralose...I type this at 3 AM wide awake...nuff said. I used to laugh when I was younger and I heard in school about the Romans using lead as a sweetener and that one theory as to why Rome fell. I do not laugh anymore. WE ARE POISONING OURSELVES! |

I have been warned about Splenda but did not believe it, I am still trying to find medical issues and proof of what it can cause. If anyone has this I would much appreciate seeing it, my daughter says it is BAD for Memory, Thyroid, and Breathing. Need Help.. Thanks.. You can email me privately also, Dzarza@aol.com

Gosh, what do we use then? Everything we consume and or use today has some problems attached to it. Will we ever know the answers? I am just so confused about things I eat and drink, I feel we shouldn't eat anything anymore. And also all the Meds we take, every monthis another warning, when does it end?

I was on splenda for about 3 months. I started with severe headaches and then a burning tongue. I have been to the doctor twice and they put me on an antibotic (said my sinsus looked awful) I did my own research and found out that splenda causes burning tongue and headaches. I am off only a week. My anxiety level is sky high and so I am on ativan. I have read three weeks to get out of your system. I hope this is true. What an awful feeling. I hope to sue this company one day.

SUCRALOSE IS A POISON TO YOUR BODY!!!
I understand that this may not happen to everyone but it happened to me and as I was lying on my couch yesterday looking up sucralose side affects, I was astonished to find there were other people like me out there who were having the same symptoms as I was and I WASN’T CRAZY! I had been using sucralose for about a year and heavily since July 2009. I had diarrhea daily and while sleeping, going through 2 changes in clothes per night. Headaches like you wouldn’t believe... Along with the headaches, and diarrhea I felt hopeless not wanting to get out of bed, get dressed, speak to anyone or do anything and everything and everyone annoyed me. Thoughts of suicide ran through my mind and I was sinking lower and lower. I couldn’t think straight. I was having trouble breathing like my lungs were full of fluid. My body ached and my kidneys hurt, my skin was sensitive and tingly. I felt like I wanted to jump right out of my body. Hot and cold flashes plagued me daily. I chalked it up to stress but then my husband said it has to be something you are ingesting that the rest of the family is not. The only difference is that I was using Splenda. Yesterday, I stopped using it in my morning coffee and I feel much better and I am drinking as much water as I can to rid the poison of my body. |

OMG! I am more than amazed by what I have read here. I googled anxiety tonight as I have had too much lately-the only difference between my story and the others that I have read is the name! Thanks for sharing your stories- I know where to start to take care of myself.
