Wow - it's been quite a while since the bird flu frenzy was virtually a daily occurrence in the news.

I forget who was tracking all these stories and doing research on the facts of "bird flu" but their findings were that, in a nutshell, all this "bird flu" s*** was a bunch of booga booga.

Send them all to Kauai, I say. Might help control the rampant wild chicken population over there...

The danger in bird flu, using China as an example is the urban setting the disease propagates in. These are high density urban areas where people live and sleep in close proximity to their birds. Diseases strictly found in animals are transmitted between birds & humans until the person is no longer immune. At the airport, you can use open very windswept areas as quarantine stations. Detention in these windswept areas for a couple of days and given nutrition to build immunity to the disease should bring them back to health. There then has to be restrictions around bird & human contact. The disease may already be here. In one three week period I saw numerous dead small birds in various parts of town. This was at I time I was experiencing "sniffles".
