A funding shortfall has forced the Central Coast HIV/AIDS Services Salinas drop-in center to close, eliminating the organization's field office that offered needle exchange and other means of curbing the dangers of high-risk activities.

Monterey County AIDS Project shut its doors aka "consolidated" with John 23rd, after tough times there. it is a shame to see the budget continue to be slashed. The govenor announced today that with a projected $15BILLION deficit more severe cuts are coming by june 2010. There is little left to cut. i am certain the poor, under served and needy will be forced to take the brunt on the coming cuts as well. If you have the time now would be a GREAT time to volunteer with any cause you feel passioante about. I am certain all non profits would appreciate the help!
