ASG Offers Services on HIV Testing Day

HIV spreads because of irresponsible behavior. I remember in the 1980s, a gay friend describing the terror of learning that he was at high risk, getting the test, and being very grateful when he tested negative and he changed his habits. Many people were infected by blood products, so now we test blood products. Condoms are available at any supermarket.
Meanwhile, because of people like George Maris there are a lot of gay men 'bug chasing' because they have confidence in the availability of medical treatment paid for by my taxes and insurance costs. I resent paying for the irresponsibility of others, we should send the biohazards to a leper colony and leave them to rot.

Ignorance,stigma, prejudice,hate,and lack of compassion, is what breeds fear into the hearts of the people who need care.It is the very reason people are afraid to get tested.This fear is worse than the disease.

The man I knew who was a hemophiliac, celebrated his life becoming normal with the discovery of the Clotting Factor only to became infected with HIV in the early 1980s, had sores from what was then called ARK and could not touch another human being to be sure he would not infect others,he would have probably disagreed about the "fear" being worse than the disease.
I guess that fool that I saw proudly displaying a biohazard tattoo has overcome his fear, was that you, George?

Fear begins with not knowing. knowledge is the light in that dark place.Today we are more knowledgeable about HIV/AIDS. It cannot be transmitted by touching another human being or by hugging.Because of medication and treatment people do not have to die so horrifically.It is not a death sentence.
