Let's see here...the numbers..$100,000 spent for 61,752 syringes. That's $1.60 per syringe.
Now we have another $100k going to buy syringes for illegal drug users, which enables them to continue. The county is is now acting as a codependant and hindering the users sobriety?
$200Kk + in two years.
61,752 syringes handed out in an 11-month period.
That is 186 syringes per day, every day..
In actuality, what we have done here:
a) enabled users to become sicker; and
b) become silent partners, providing a product for a black market for syringes.
Users are always looking for ways to get money to buy dope - the county is now helping them.
This has brought a windfall to one part of our society that desperatly needs funding.
Thank you Yolo County.
Also, we now have users coming from other locations to score dope here along with needles.
Or, they will bring the dope to Yolo Co because they know they can get a supply of syringes form the users.
Yes, this is what has happened and will con't to happen as long as the county finances this portion of the industry.

Business is thriving, I'm sad to say. Proably not exactly the outcome that county official wanted, but certainly predictable if you really know anything at all about users, and you are honest about it.

I ask the County and the Democrat to publish in advance all of the distribution dates, times and locations.
Thank you.

This is the stupidist thing I have ever heard of, they arrest the people supplying the drugs but they hand out the syringes so people can use the drugs? That makes no sense at all. They should have invested that money into more mental health and drug abuse programs to help people get off drugs not give them the tools they need to use drugs.

This situation is similar to the prohibition era. They simply can not stop them, so they do whatever it takes to protect as many people as possible. Sad, but true. Mind altering drugs are today's curse.
