Propecia and Depression

Can someone please tell me why propecia doesnt warn of depressive side effects?

ive suffered from depression in the past taking prescription drugs so when i take medicines for whatever i make sure to read the side effect section of the booklet to make sure depression isnt one of them, well propecia doesnt mention depression as a side effect at all

ok so ive been on propecia for about 3 weeks now and in the last few days ive felt low as f*ck until today, today ive actually been feeling scared and a whole bunch of BULLSH!T feelings. i swear at times ive felt like crawling into my closet and closing the doors and just sitting in there doing nothing, it will probably make me cope better

for me its no coincidence, my body isnt taking this BS drug well at all...i just did an internet search on this drug and there are lots and lots of people feeling EXACTLY the same feelings as me

so wtf i want to know is how the f@ck can drug companies get away with doing stuff like this? telling people to take this drug because its safe but they forget to mention that its safe for 9/10 people and you might not be one of them

Not only is finasteride known to induce depression, but it also has another, un-mentioned mechanism in the brain (drug passes thru blood-brain barrier)- causing anxiety by inhibiting 5ar2 conversion of progesterone to allopregnanolone, and other neurosteroids. This can very easily disrupt GABA receptor function and cause anxiety and depression.

Whether Smitty has "major issues" or not, he is taking a drug that can cause the feelings he is reporting. He also has a point - Merck should be truthful to the consumer and mention/warn of this alternate action of finasteride, rather than minimize the appearance of risk.

Are you using a knockoff or something? I used the brand name for a while before switching to the generic (dealgeneric.com ) and was unsure about it but it was cheap, no side effects, and its still growing. Maybe you used a crooked pharmacy? Or are just nutz..
