Judge it!
I just read this story and had my doc do a ferritin test.(I have been losing hair gradually for the past 5 years and recently began "shedding" more.) I am female, 49, healthy. The test revealed my level was "25", which is on the low end of "normal" According to the docs in the story, it should be "70" for optimal growth. I am taking ferrous sulfate pills under a doctor's care to try and get to 70. Has anyone else had success with iron supplements?

I would think that it would more likely be due to your age than to an iron deficiency. A good percentage of women lose their hair as they age.

Iron deficiency my ass, I know people who wont touch meat products and they have more hair than shirley temple, while my iron intake is fine and i am like a cue ball. you can't compete with genetics my friend they hold the power....
