I have been suffering from gout for a long time and tried all different treatments with very little success.Just recently I tried something which really works. As soon as my gout attack begins I start drinking lots of water at regular intervalls. In a matter of a few hours the pain completely subsides.I have tried it lots of times and it always works .Has anybody else tried it?

I have been drinking lots of water to avoid attacks, the good news is that the severity of the attacks has subsided incredibly, but it hasn't gone away completely yet. Talked to my Rheum..gist abt this, he agreed that it helps but doesn't get rid of it completely. Presribed me with Allopurionol, seems to be helping now

Have you tried any herbal remedies?
So many are out there these days, but who knows how to
judge the claims?
It was just an inconvience once or twice a year to
the right big toe, but has spread to my hands and wrists.
Work is becoming harder with each day.
Any ideas from a fellow sufferer?

I know the statement of how to judge the claims - if you can...buy a couple of bottles of MonaVie Active and see for yourself. I won't say anymore other than I have had a contractor taking it for his gout for over two months and no complaints that this product doesn't work. If you want to research a little more go to www.thegreatproduct.com/drinkacai !! I will leave the rest up to you. Good Luck and remember that there is always a solution to your problems - you just need to look past the broken mirror and find the answers.

I read somewhere that 2 tablespoons ACV ( apple cider vinegar) mixed with Tablespoon of honey + 1/2 Cup of water+ a pinch of baking soda .3 times a day is a great way to get rid of gout..

I totally cured my gout four years ago when I resolved my sleep apnea. The oxygen reduction from sleep apnea causes the cells to overproduce uric acid and also causes the blood to more readily precipitate monosodium urate crystals from its supersaturated uric acid solution. When these crystals lodge in a joint, they cause the pain and inflammation of a gout attack which are so evident when awakening.

A few months ago my big toe would start hurting--like cutting it off would be an improvement in the pain. I asked my Dr. if I've got gout--no way he says. Next my big toe stops hurting and my heal begins to hurt--can't hardly walk--am told I have Planter Fascitus. Have had 2 shots of cortazone and try to do exercises when it allows but not much relief. Could this be gout??

I think you are 100% correct. I also noticed I get gout attack at night, and oxygen (or lack of) is the real culprit in inducing gout. In my case, during sleep and because of allergy my nasal pathway gets blocked reducing oxygen intake. Only preventive measure I take against gout is Aleve for allergy. It works until I get sleep problem. BTW, how did you cure your SLEEP APNEA?

I have plantar fasciitis. THe pain is inthe heel, especially in the morning when you first get out of bed. During the day it lessens, and it is lessened when I wear good fitting structured shoes (not flip-flops or cheap Walmart shoes). I found a video that teaches gradual stretching exercises to relieve the pain of plantar fasciitis. THe achilles tendon is tightened. That causes the tendon between the heel and the ball of the foot to tighten, and thus severe pain in the heel that lessens when up during the day. I have never suffered toe pain with this condition. I would not get cortisone shots. Stretching the achilles tendon for greater than 1 min, 3-4 times each day EVERY day helps. As does good quality shoes, ViscoSpot insoles, and regular exercise.

I'd love to have more information on this issue.
I work at a Hyperbaric Oxygen clinic and have a 92-year old being treated for a different condition, who also has gout, and is wondering what the effect will be on his gout

Any further references on this issue are most welcome

I have been suffering for the last 12 years - I am now 37. Gout, as well as being tear inducingly painful has also cost me a few good jobs, and contributed to my first divorce.

I stick to a diet avoiding red meat and seafood and no alcohol. Chicken chicken chicken. It gets a bit boring, but is so much better than the pain. I can go sometimes over a year without an attack.

Just putting my foot in a bowl of water can take the edge off the pain, but you can't go far with a bowl of water on your foot. Add some baking soda for extra relief.

I'm 43 and have been getting attacks for the past 3 years. I've never tried drinking water for gout, but I have had kidney stones 2/3 times, which is related to uric acid excretion. The first time I got kidney stones I thought I was going to die, I felt nauseous, tired & hot..generally all over bad. I read that drinking plenty of water helps to flush the little so & so's out, tried it and within 24 hours I was feeling loads better, another 24 hours later I was better.

I normally have diclofenic (nsaid) to treat my gout which seems to work OK. An attack has just started 2 days ago and I have no diclofenac in the cupboard and won't be able to get any for a couple of days. So far I have been able to reduce it by eating plenty of cherries, strawberries, yogurt with cherry juice extract, ibufrofen. I have been resting too. I am avoiding alcohol and meat too and going to bed early.(Previous attacks have occurred when I have had to work late through the night).

Hello
I used to dive using compressed air for as many as seven hours a day, scraping up sea urchins in malibu.
I noticed that if I had any aches and sore muscles in the morning as I drove the boat out to work,by the afternoon, having been immersed in sea water all day, breathing compressed air at 40 feet...about double the normal surface air pressure at that depth, and drinking nothing but regular orange juice all day,by afternoon all aches and sore muscles and pains were gone.I would be tired from working hard on the bottom of the ocean 40 or so feet down.
Now I am 65 and have drank red wine all my life I do get gout and was getting bad circulation.
So I am going to try putting my feet in a foot bath that uses warm water, and load the water with salt, and cover the bath with my foot in it with a plastic sheet and feed pure oxygen from a cylinder into the water.
Also, by switching to a diet of less wine, no red meat, no bread, no beer, lots of raw veggies and lots of corn and fruits of all kinds I have quit taking vitamins, quit taking aspirin, quit the gout drugs and the gout herbs, and I feel great.
