The article appears to leave out a lot of facts. For example, when Ms. Parise went to the emergency room, what was the condition of her arm besides pain? Was it red? warm?, which would be signs of infection. The article only says that Ms. Parise had arm pain. Additionally, 2.8 million dollars seems to be quite an expensive judgement given the limited information presented in the article. An appeal seems likely. I wish Ms. Parise a pain free recovery.

The awarded money should have been more!

See Michael Moore upcoming movie "Sickos" this year.

It will feature stories like this as well as how the HMO's and Big Pharma abuse patients while trying to avoid ANY responsibility for their rampant neglect.

Why aren't doctors REQUIRED to type their prescriptions instead of using illegible chicken scratch?

They go to all the trouble the trouble in the world to heal people but them subject them to a roulette of prescriptive bull crap?

Yikes!

33 minutes in the hospital? I don't think I've EVER been to Good Sam and waited less than 3 hours!!

I've seen how this disease ravages its victims. Horrible. Hopefully one day Ms Parise will be able to live without constant pain.

The judgement seems low considering what she went through and will continue to go through. When a hospital cuts corners by using PA instead of a DR they should pay for it. I am sure they billed as if she was seen by a doctor. I have been to the hospital and was seen by nurses and whoever else was passing through, yet when my bill came it reflected the DR on staff at the time. When questioned I was told he was in charge of that shift and that all treatment get approved through him. So as I stated if the hospitals are willing to save money by spreading the work over less costing PA then they should be paying whatever amount of money is awarded.

When the head is rotten the whole fish stinks. That hospital has had so many judgements of negligence throughout the years Their affiliated nursing homes Our Lady of Consolation and Good Samaritan are just as negligent. They hold no one working there responsible no matter what they do to residents. If families or sponsors complain to administrators, they're ignored by the C.E.O. of hospital and Administrator of nursing home. The NYSDOH covers up every report of negligence and deaths. Residents have no civil or human rights in their facilities.

on feb 14 of this year i had an abdominal hysterectomy, the following week i went back to have my staples removed and my incision burst open. i was put back in the hospital for 2 weeks. my incision was completely opened back up and they told me i had a flesh eating bacteria in my stomach. i was put on antibiotics and was in a great deal of pain. the following week a plastic surgeon came in and did a partial closure to my incision. im back home finally, but home health has to come to my house to pack my incision everyday. now im getting all these bills and i got the infection from the operating room at the hospital. i will also one day have to have another surgery because the dr. said i will have hernia in my incision. i dont know what to do.just thought i would share

I agree with the person who said that Good Sam and their affiliate Our Lady of Consolation nursing home covers up negligence of their doctors. My dad spent time in the Baxter "death" Pavillion and barely made it out of there alive. They tend to drug the residents especially the elderly with dementia and leave them alone for long periods of time while they waste away, become weak and emaciated. Be very careful if your elderly relatives go to Good Sam. Keep a close eye on them and make sure they get proper treatment there.

Daily Horoscope for December 22

Scorpio

It will be easy to let things get on top of you today, especially if you're already feeling rather tired and listless. Do yourself a favor and keep away from anyone who often makes you feel a bit fed up or defensive, because they're the last person you want to be around at the moment. They'll make your spirits sink down to your ankles in a flash, and who needs that?
