Living with Lyme disease

Full story: Monterey County Herald

I'm lucky. My Lyme disease was diagnosed relatively early. Contending with it hasn't exactly been easy.

Please go and see the patents many of the IDSA/CDC personnel own,
and how they narrowed the disease defination of Lyme to profit
off the sick and dying.

Great piece. Important piece. Took a lot of courage for Laith to put himself out there, but it will benefit a lot of people.

diagnosed with lymes disease in dec.'2007 after a 1.5yrs of symptoms. contracted the disease in carmel california. still being treated. unfortunately the use of an ototoxic antibiotic (one of three) has left me with continuous left ear subjective tinnitus. my symptoms have been predominantly infectious arthropathies and knee effusions that have required repeated aspiration with steroid infusions. the medical community as a whole in california is ignorant of the disease and it's severity. god help us.

I asked to be tested three years ago and wss told that I don't "live in a lyme disease area"....I continued to experience fatigue, flu like aching, and lack of interest leaving the house. Finally I changed doctors...the new doctor had me tested and I somehow did get Lyme disease. I was put on antibiotics and proclaimed "cured" by the specialist who also told me that any blood test would still show the lyme disease as present. Question to all of you...does it really just go away after taking antibiotics? I still am fatigues, achy and prefer to be home....have I just gotten used to this condition or what?

I was diagnosed last summer. I contracted lymes in 2001. The Dr. I went to for the tick bite did not treat me said I was fine, turned out I was far from fine. My life has become almost unbareable, finally I was diagnosed by a chiroprator after numerous trips to all kinds of Drs. with all kinds of symptoms. Lymes disease is nothing to laugh about it does exsist, and it is hell.Being treated now since july, Have a very long way to go thanks to the numerous co-infections that also is carried by a little tick. The medical community nned to wake up and become aware that so many people are infected and suffering due to this disease. Dr's look at you like you are stupid and or crazy. Very disappointing, Huh?
