You may still think of this girl you were with. Being in love with someone or grief over the loss of a relationship can affect erectile function. You probably felt less anxiety with her. But with a chick you don't even know you are worried how she will feel about your size and performance subconsciously. Erections have a lot to do with the brain. Maybe you should start dating and have sex only after you get to know her better. That may help with the anxiety level.

There is a difference even between being 16 and 22. I've read in the late teens one reaches their sexual peak.

speaking from experience wrote: More details: I'm 26. Two years ago, I used to be able to have and hold an erection just by thinking about sex. My problems developed mainly over the last two years. Under "ideal circumstances," I could get an erection about 80% of the time but would lose it after a few minutes. With my girlfriend, I could do it about 60% of the time, but would quickly lose it after a couple of minutes. So, mild ED. I guess my point was that if your function is similar or less than this, definitely see a doctor. New-at-this: I was prescribed testosterone gel and have been taking it for about two weeks. I noticed some improvement after the first two days. However, over the next week, the ED came back. Luckily, I realized that I had started using the testosterone incorrectly (the gel remains sticky -- I was applying talcum powder over it to keep it from sticking to my shirt. I think the powder was absorbing the medication and preventing it from transporting through the skin.) So I started using it correctly again, and have seen improvement again after about five more days of use. I still haven't returned to full function, but it's too early to tell. In the last 5 days, I'm doing about 100% under "ideal conditions." Girlfriend's out of town so can't test in actual battlefield conditions ;) === Anyway, again, my point is not to give anyone false hope of similar success. It's rather to emphasize that I was foolish for being delaying my visit to the doctor. Good luck, gentlemen. How long did you have to take this? does it work for the long term effect or do you have to always be taking it?

I am 16, and I never have a problem getting it up under 'ideal conditions', as mentioned above. However, recently when I am with a girl and we are about to have sex, I have a problem getting & staying hard. Not sure of the cause or anything, any suggestions?

There are any number of causes and solutions with erectile dysfunction that don't include medicine. All medicine has side affects so it's important to look for alternative ways to fix the problem. I make some recommendations on my blog with a FREE REPORT if you want to learn more.

Hey most guys will laugh at this, but google the term "fractured penis"! Yup while having sex a common accident can cause a man of any age to suffer a painful accident which can result in life long ED and/or a gross looking erection. It normally happens to men when there woman is overweight, on top, and is going wild jumping up in the air way too far and the thing slips out and her pelvis smashes right smack on a guy's penis. It's extremely painful, it cause for surgery to be fixed correctly, and in my case, many guys are too scared to go to the hospital and never realize how much damage they just had done to their sex lifes. I'm a lucky guy because after a full year, more like 16 months mine injury and pain finally healed even while having routime sex. BUT I started having ED in the latter days and it was not until my new girlfriend told down hard. My new gal heard about this condition first on a hospital comedy show she seen that dealt with a fractured penis. After she told me what she saw, I had to look it up and gasped when I found it had happened to me and I never even realized is was a medical problem!
Now I have trouble getting it up because I did not seek medical attention in time. BUT, I found something that works for me, and it's the commonly sold Zyrexin sold at Walmart. It works better for my problem that Viagra did! I don't know this herbal stuff works for all men, but it can get me hard as a rock and keep me there for hours. It all depends on your body and what you need for your problem. A typical prostate problem may respond, or it may not respond to the medication that I take. But for my problem I found the answer and I'm very happy it's easy to find over the counter.
I never believed in herbal sex pills before, I thought they were all snake oil!! I only tried them due to an article I read where the FDA had found the active prescription ingredients in some of the OTC herbal pills. In hte end I discovered that Walmart wasn't selling snake oil at all, it's just that it's like any other herb or drug, it works on some but not all. You wont know unless you try it. In my case I have to double to dose from 2 pills to 4, but that gets it for me!

Did you tell your doctor that you're taking all these drugs? There are many drugs that can cause ED (esp. antidepressants and high blood pressure meds) and Buspar is one of them. Check out this list and don't forget to ask your doctor about this: http://www.webmd.com/erectile-dysfunction/gui...

hey man i have probably a close similar effect you do on getting it up we need to talk jayFee wrote: So I've had a girlfriend for a good amount of time now and I've been having trouble getting it up...we attempted twice to have sex..and I couldn't really get it that erect/keep it erect to get a condom on. It's pretty embarrassing and she's a virgin and I am not, so I feel like even more of a fool. I've been sexually active in the past and had no trouble getting an erection with 1 random experience with an ex-girlfriend, but another girl I was with I did have trouble. I just recently turned 20 and I'm on certain "ADHD" medication. I'm not sure how much they may effect me, but here's the information. I'm on Adderral XR 15 mg, welbutrin 300 mg and buspar 15 mg--the welbutrin and buspar are supposed to control my "impulses" according to my psychiatrist and the Adderall is obviously for my ADHD; I also have short acting focalin. I know it had some sort of effect on testosterone. I'm in pretty good shape, I have a muscular build. I work out regularly, eat pretty well for a college kid, and I drink on a weekly basis, but I don't smoke. I feel like this shouldn't be happening to someone my age and I'm really embarrassed, and really don't want to go to my doctor, that would be really awkward and embarrassing. I was wondering if anyone sees anything that could be an issue or has any advice. I don't know if it's just nerves but please help me out. If anyone knows of anything that would help getting an erection that wouldn't require a prescription, that would be awesome as well. All other advice would be sooo appreciated. This problem is really frustrating and embarrassing, which is why I'm resorting to a more anonymous approach. Thanks.

Hi.
I'm 22 years old (not sexually active). For the past several months, I've noticed that I cannot attain an erection unless I have my hand on my penis/genitals to begin getting stimulated. Once I've achieved the erection, it generally stays firm provided that it is exposed to continual manual contact. My penis immediately loses its firmness once I don't expose it to any contact.
I'm concerned for the fact that I simply can't get an erection "naturally". i.e. if I watch an erotic porn video or see a sexy woman, no penile stimulation is reached. Sometimes I feel as though I have no sexual drive whatsoever, like nothing will turn me on. Although I do masturbate about 3 times a week with no difficulty in achieving an orgasm.
My primary concern is that unlike in my teenage years, I don't just "get" an erection. And the more I think about this, the more difficult it is to achieve one. I'm in very good shape, I eat healthy, I don't drink/smoke, and I'm on no medication. Is this a common problem, or could this possibly be something more serious? This is a very frustrating problem, and I'd appreciate input from anyone who is/has been in a similar situation.

Man, I know its a shitty thing to say but I'm so glad I'm not the only one that has this problem.
It is one of the most frustrating things to see something so natural be so hard to achieve. Especially every time u start dating a girl. Especially on the age of 21, the time of sexual craziness.
One guy said about turning down hot women, making excuses every time. I know how that feels man, disarming and shameful. Another guy said about constant contact and I also know how that feels.
I went to see a doctor, gave me meds but I'm going again. I don't think u should try to find a solution yourself, the doctor knows what he's talking about. It's gonna suck, going the first time, but I rather get that over with than not trying to kick this ED's ass.
I really hate it, I'm getting more and more depressed every time an opportunity passes by
