I have always had issues when it came to my "girlie parts"! Aunt Flo came for her first visit when I was 9 years old (I was wearing yellow shorts sitting on my parents WHITE carpet and my dad was the only one home at the time!). Anyways... I always had very heavy periods when I was younger, there were times where I had to stay home for days because I was in so much pain. When I was 12 my Dr. put me on BC to help regulate me and control the bleeding, that helped somewhat. Then I quit taking BC because I was gaining a lot of weight. I vaigly remember when I was about 15 or 16 having an ultrasound because the suspected ovarian cysts. Fast forward several years and I have 3 children. All 3 were C-sections, all 3 were very large babies. I was in labor for 3 days with the first one (10 lb 8 oz), 2 days with the second (8 lb 12 oz, he was 1 month early) and a scheduled c-section with my daughter (9lb 8 oz). After all these big babies I had a lot of scaring. My periods got worse again (bleeding for 2 weeks or longer, a lot of pain, nausea) so I opted for pelvic reconstructive surgery in 2004. Things were better for a while after the surgery. But then a few months ago it started going downhill again, it kept getting worse and worse. During my periods I get so bloated that I look 9 months pregnant, I bleed through a supper plus tampon in less than an hour, I ache, I hurt, I'm very drained, I'm nauseous (sometimes I do loose my cookies)... the list goes on. I kept having this really bad pelvic/ abdominal pain. This last period I couldn't take it anymore, I called my Dr. I went to the dr. on Friday, did several tests including CBC, HCG, Ultrasound... I have 2 ovarian cysts on each of my ovaries. They were concerned that I am having more pain on the right even though the larger cyst is on the left, so I was sent to the ER for CT Scan to make sure it wasn't my appendix- IT'S NOT! THANK GOD! However the pain got worse over the weekend and I saw my dr. yesterday. With my history and pain he wants to do a laprascopy next week. I am just wondering if maybe I have had endometriosis this whole time and nobody has caught it. Is that possible? I am on Vicodin and Phenagran now so I have some relief from the pain and nausea. My period started 8/18, I am still spotting and having a lot of cramps and bloating, but worst of all the really sharp pains in my pelvic area. Kinda nervous about the surgery but I want it all to stop. But to be honest I want it all taken out though, I don't need it anymore- no more kids for me. These "girlie parts" have caused me nothing but problems for 22 years. My Dr. said he will take a look at my uterus as well, as my last GYN said it was so beat up (he delivered my daughter and did my pelvic reconstructive surgery) he wished he had my consent to take it out then and there.

I guess I left out my question... what should I expect after the surgery... as far as recovery?

Your story sounds very similar to mine. Same problem w/left cyst being bigger but extreme pain on the right side. I too was in the ER for it and they also thought my appendix had inflammed. But nothing wrong w/the appendix. I have not had a lap done yet, but that is the next step. Always had problems w/heavy bleeding and pain, etc. I hope everything worked out for you after surgery.
