Hi Ladies!
I'm glad to have found this forum because I have a lot of questions. I had surgery via laparoscopy on August 3rd to remove 6cm cysts from each of my ovaries. When I went for my post op appt. this past Thursday my GYN informed me that I was pretty messy inside and that my cysts where endometriomas and that I had endo as well that caused my ovary to stick to my bowel wall. My left ovary was destroyed and had to be removed and my right ovary was just as bad. He didn't remove my right ovary since I'm only 26 and do not have any children. He said that he is putting me on Lupron Depot 3.75mg and Norithedrone 5mg Therapay for 6 months. He said it's because he really needs to have my right ovary heal properly so I have to be in a state of menopause. I guess since it will be taking over for two now he can't risk it forming large cysts again. So here are my questions: 1. Is this normal treatment following an oopherectomy? 2. I read that Lupron mainly treats endo pain but, I have never had pain from endo which leads me to ask... 3. Can a woman have endo and have no symptoms? My periods have ALWAYS been every 28 days, 3-5 days long with mild cramps and moderate flow. No pain during sex or bowel movements either. 4. Regarding side effects of this drug. How bad is it really? The internet is bad with this type of thing because you can find horror stories with ANY drug out there. Plus the people with negative experiences are always louder than the positive ones. I had my first shot the day of my surgery and have been taking my Norethidrone pills daily and feel fine. Would I have had side effects by now? Thanks for reading this guys. All this hit me hard and fast and I just don't know the right questions to ask yet. |

For the Lupron at about 14 days I had a huge change. I got the night sweats and had a horrible down feeling day. It only lasted a day though and the depression was gone. I feel emotional sometimes, tears and such but it is ok.

I hope that you have better luck than I did...my symptoms for night sweats were very mild and really didn't see any of them for the first couple of months. The real trick was the roller coaster coming off the Lupron all together. That's when the emotions all came into play. While on Lupron...anything that didn't really bother me, was magnified 110%, so if you are in a committed relationship, tell your significant other to "be prepared for the ride of their life".

The "menopause" caused by lupron depot is temporary, correct?
At least I hope so... I have my laporoscopy next month followed by six months of lupron depot treatments. Please tell me you return to normal after your treatments.:( |

I am going to be starting the lupron therapy in the next few weeks and am terrified about the possible side effects. I am wondering if it is even worth it or if I should just put up with the pain and heavy bleeding w/ my endometriosis. I am wondering if anyone out there has any positive stories? I tried Depo Provera shots 2 yrs ago and am still trying to lose the 30lbs that I gained w/ that. Help!

After years in pain... my doctor prescribe Lupron Depot 11.15mg for 1 year with the add-back therapy Norethindrone Acetate 5 mg, that helps a lot with the side effects an the possible bone density loss, and amitripline for the occasional pain. For the first 2 weeks the pain increases, but after was ok. I have a light period in the first month of treatment but that is all. I didn't have any spotting during the treatment. I gain few pounds.
I sugest the website about Lupron for you to understand more about this medication. http://www.endofacts.com/ We know each case is different, but for me was a good help. Since then i have blocked my period with pill, and my endo is in control. I also did pelvic physioterapy for a while, and start a daily exercise as yoga and pilates. I hope you'll have a good treatment too!

My last Lupron shot was February 11th... I'm one week after the 3 month anniversary of this shot and have no clue if I"m cycling. I was suppose to start my birth control pills last Monday BUT I wanted to see if my reproductive system was working because one day I hope to be able to conceive... plus, I would have began a new cycle while on Vacation this coming August and we all know how that is. So, I'm suppose to start my bc pills today... but still no cycle. I mean there's a chance I could be pg, but I have no clue. I have PCOS and Endo. There's no telling! How long after the 3 month anniversary of your shot did you start a cycle naturally?

After having a laparoscopy in october 2008, I had to fight my insurance provider to be out on the Lupron. In the meantime, my doc put me on birth control to help manage symptoms, I chose the Nuva Ring because of previous bad experiences with other methods. Once the appeal came through and I got my first Lupron shot, my doc advised that I also remain on the birth control. After 3 weeks, my cycle came and has lasted for nearly 3 weeks long. It came with serious cramps, which I am not used to beyond the first day of my normal cycle. At day 12, I went to see my doc. He said it was normal to have irregular cycles the first couple months on the Lupron and they would eventually cease all together. Knowing my body, I chose to remove the nuva ring, which ended the cramps but not the bleeding. It has been 3 weeks and it's a regular flow cycle...not heavy or light. Has anyone else shared this experience or should I get a second opinion?? I am worried...

IMPORTANT - Your experience with Lupron Depot will be a much improved experience because your doctor has prescribed Norithendrone Acetate 5mg Therapay (add-back therapy)along with the Lupron Depot. All of the negative information about Lupron Depot is because the doctor did not prescribe "add-back therapy", Norithendrone Acetate, along with the Lupron Depot. Add-back therapy is a must when taking Lupron Depot. It's that simple. Lupron Depot lowers your estrogen and progesterone as it is should, to treat your endometriosis. The add-back therapy adds back some progesterone to mitigate the side effects, but still treat your endometriosis. |
||||
As mentioned in the earlier posting, your experience with Lupron Depot was much better because you took Norithendrone Acetate along with your Lupron Depot. |
