I need some advice!!

I was on Lupron for 7 months. I have now been off of it for 2 1/2 months. I have yet to start my period. Is this normal??? I asked my Doctor and she said that if I do not start in 6 months to call her. I have been reading on-line and everthing I read says if you don't start in 3 months call your doctor. I don't want to wait to long if there is a chance of a problem. Has anyone else had this kind of problem? What is the norm. for starting your period after Lupron? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

My last Lupron shot was on May 16. I too have been anxiously waiting for my period to return but nothing yet. My doctor said that I just needed to wait it out but my husband and I are ready to start trying to conceive especially since it could take longer because of endo and lupron. I don't go back to see my doctor until October and then he said we would look at Clomid. October seems so far away since this has been going on (lupron and waiting for return of AF)it seems like forever. Elizabeth, did you ever start your period? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Good luck to you all!

Jamie,
No I still have yet to start my period. However I went to my dr. and she put me on Prometrium. It is supposed to help releive your menopause syptoms and help you start your period. You can find out some helpful info on www.webmd.com about this. Once I start my period I am then supposed to start the clomid as well. I am taking 200mg for 14 days. Then I should start about a week after that.(crossing fingers) Hope this helps you!!

Jamie,
Have you started your period yet? I'm in the same situation. My last Lupron shot was May 27th. I still haven't started my period and my husband and I would also like to start TTC in September. If I haven't started by Monday, I plan on calling my doctor. I hope it doesn't take too long to get my period. I'm hoping to have a baby next summer, because I am a school teacher and I don't want to have to take a pregnancy leave. Keep us posted! It's nice to know there are others like me, dealing with this.

My second 3-month Lupron shot was March 30th. No period yet, so my doctor wants me to try provera. Anyone know about this drug?

Jennifer,
I apologize for just now responding. This is the first time I have looked at it in awhile. No, I still have not started my period. I called my doctor and they called in provera (1 a day for 10 days) to bring on my period. I took the last one last Saturday and the websites that I have visited say that you should start between 3-7 days from your last pill. Well, today is 5 days; almost 6 days and still no period. I have all the symptoms of about to start a period (cramping, sore breasts, headache, major bloating) but no period. I'm am so frustrated just like you. I just want to have a period so that we can try and conceive as soon as possible. Let me know how your situation is now and I will let you know IF I ever start my period. Good Luck!

I had my last Lupron shot Jun 3rd so I really shouldn't start my period until the 1st of October. Can we start trying to get Preggy as soon as I have my first period or do we have to wati. Anyone know? We have been trying to Concieve for around 5 years, I have been on Clomid, had the endo surgery and progesterine even went to a fertility clinic for 4 months. This is my last hope. I hope to hear a success story of a pregnancy after Lupron.

I received my last injection of the miserable drug, Lupron, a little over 2 months ago and have not seen any signs of my period. I spoke with my doctor and he wants to see me, but I have moved across the country. I don't want to panic yet. Does anybody have any advice?

I would wait longer until seeing another doctor. I stopped taking Lupron in January, and my period just returned again in August. Thats 7 months! But now it only comes like once every 40 something days, and its really light. Does anyone know if that is normal from taking Lupron or if it will keep gong on like that?

After 3 months with no period after my last Lupron shot and after taking Progesterone to try and make me start I had SEVERE cramps and went to see my doctor. They did a transvaginal ultrasound and saw that I had 3 months worth of periods just sitting in there. He said that I could have an imbalance in my hormones. The following morning he did a D&C and removed all of that. After surgery he told my husband that my hormones were fine but that my cervix was completely closed and dilated. He had to make an incision in it just to get it to open to remove all the blood. He told me that I should have a period on my own the next month and I did!!! I can't remember ever being that happy to start my period. I will NEVER take Lupron again because he said that's probably what caused that to happen. My husband and I are trying to conceive now so I will keep everyone updated. Also if anyone has any questions please let me know. I know how you all feel. I have been there for almost a year now.

Hi Jamie,
It's so weird everything that happened to you but fortunately everything is fine now and you got your period...so you can start trying to conceive!!!
I also had a lupron shot (3 month doze) on June the 7th and I'm still waiting for my period. I'm so anxious so I decided to go to the doctor. He made me a blood test last monday and another blood test and ultrasound on friday. The results said that I have no progesterone and my estrogen level is on 20 (what is too low). That means I'm still under lupron. I really wanted to cry cause I have no chances of pregancy. Hope god hear my prays and my period returns soon. Keep me posted if you have any news!!.(If something is wrong with my writing it's because I'm from Chile and I just have been in the US for a couple of years...so sorry!). Best, Carolina.

I’m almost 20, and I took my first shot of Lupron in January, right after I had surgery for endometriosis I had just found out I had along with PCOS. I took my second and final shot in april. I’ve always had about a two-two and a half month lapse between perriods since I started at age 12. Last year I was put on birth control to help regulate my period. Since my last shot in april, I saw my doctor in August for a check-up, and my period still had not started yet. He gave me a prescription for birth control again, but doesn’t want me on it until my period starts. He also told me that it should start withing 4-6 weeks. It’s been over 9 weeks since my appointment. I called his office two days ago, and I expressed my concerns that my period still had not started, and he told me that he wasnt really concerned about it at all right now, and that we could talk more about it come January when I see him….However, December will mark a year since I have not had my period (and I still have small hot flashes every once in awhile), and 7 months since my last shot. And even though my doctor isn’t concerned, I am–and I’m wondering if I have a reason to be concerned, or if I should just wait it out? I know I am not pregnant, so that’s not even an option….but being 20, when I am married I want to know I have a chance of getting pregnant… I don’t that much about what is normal about period timing and what not after the shot. I was just curious if anyone has suggestions or ideas because I’m really at a loss.

I know how you all are feeling waiting impatiently to start your period. I had my last injection on May 7th and still haven't started. I cramp a little every once in a while like I am gonna start; but I don't. I love not having a period; but I am so bloated I am ready to start so that hopefully my stomach will go down. I look like I am pregnant and could bust any time. I have two little girls; one almost 5 and the other is 2; so I ain't trying to get pregnant. I had to have lap surgery last year for endometriosis and a cyst the size of a tennis ball on my ovary. God had removed the cyst by the time the surgery. Then I was put on 6 month treatment of lupron. What do ya'll think about how long I should wait to call the doctor if I don't start soon? Has anyone ever not started and found out there was another problem. I am trying to just wait it out; but don't want to take any chances on there being a problem. I hope for the best for all of you!

Stephanie,
YES!!!! I am a success story of Lupron!!! I have a wonderful 4 year old little boy who I would not have been able to have without Lupron. I only have one half of one ovary left due to endo and and cysts, but after taking Lupron I still was able to conceive. You may get pregnant while still coming off the Lupron as well. I did. My son was born a month early at 7lbs 8oz and lungs were fully developed. So the one little period I got after coming off Lupron we believe now was really the implanation bleed from the pregnancy. I am on my third round of Lupron. This time to try and conceive again. I just got off and am way ready to start trying again. Best of Luck to you!!!! I know it works!!
