Hi, im 21 and have been suffering with endometriosis since i was 17. I have been on the contraceptive pill continously but i still have alot of pain and bleed at irregular intervals. I recently went to see my gynaecologist and she was quite blunt and said well your only options are to have a baby while your young and be able to recieve IVF if i cannot concieve naturally or to decide you dont want to become pregnant for a few years and go onto the zoladex injection. I think im too young to be put through HRT even if it is only temporary, and what are the chances of concieving after the HRT?? Can anybody help i have got to make a decision :( im not sure if staying on the pill will cause long term problems as the pain is becoming worse and the Dr wont carry out another laparoscopy until i make a decision. Has anyone been in the same situation??

Hi Jess
Like you I was otld my only answer was to have a baby at 21 years old, a bit young hey.... I went on to have the Zoladex implants, to be honest they dont hurt they give you a bot of local first then the zoladex. they gave me some tablets to combat the sode affects of HRT which helped a little bit but i still got the sweats reallt bad. it was great having no pain or periods i had the treatment for 6 months but as soon as i stopped my periods were back within a few months and the pain, i did the zoladex for 18 months in total with a break in bewtween each 6 months,I have been trying to have a babay for the last 7 years with no luck so i will have to have IVF. i have had my endo zapped a few times but i think it is back again now. have you decided what you are going to do? |

Hi Jess,
How many different BC pills have you tried? I have had endo for 17 years, and found that the continuous bc cycle works best...the trick is to use the right one for you. I had to go through about 7 different pills to find the one that works for me. You will have to stay on them for a couple of months to make sure. Make your doctor work before putting you through aggressive treatment plans. If he/she won't - find a new one that will. |

Hi Jess There are alternatives! I have just treated a 23 year old patient with severe endo 3-4. Alternative treatments are available. Please check the SHE Trust newsletter for my latest success with only 16 weeks of treatment S. Allen |
