I dont believe I have an eating disorder, but there is something definitely wrong with my eating habits.
I'm 21, 5ft 11in, 130lbs... which is a "healthy" weight. My problem arises when I do not eat often enough.... Let me give you an example: If I have not had breakfast by 7ish, I will begin having the opposite of hunger pains, but like "im about to puke pains". It all happens so fast.... there is MAYBE 15 minutes where my body is actually having a hunger pain, but if I dont get something in my stomach asap, it will turn from regular hunger pains to the point where food is no longer an option and I am sitting in the bathroom on the verge of throwing up or actually doing so. Its a weird struggle because I will know the way to fix everything is to get something in my stomach fast, but if im out with friends and I dont get to a resturant fast enough, I pass that point of fixing the situation and then even the thought of opening my mouth to eat makes me gag! My poor husband will be in the bathroom trying to help me keep crackers or something down, but like I said, its hard to find a happy medium. This all started when I was 19 I think, and since then I have had at least 3 or 4 time periods where I didnt want to, but basically became anorexic for a few days because of the sickening, repulsive so-called "hunger pain" I dont think that is right, and I dont know anyone else that has this issue..... Is there a problem, or do I have to force myself to eat something like every 3 hours or so even when not hungry to prevent this from happening for the rest of my life? What is the problem? And unfortunately the only drug that practically prevents vomiting by easing nausea and gives you your appetite back is illegal ;) Suggestions? |

Well, the obvious solution is to be sure to eat first thing in the morning, and have small meals every 2-3 hours.
However, it does not sound good, and may be a symptom of a serious condition! Please see a physician, and explain this to them. I hope they check your glucose first, and then explore the possibility of an H. Pylori (Helicobater Pylori) infection, which can cause pain and nausea when you are hungry. Take care, and when you find something out, please post back and let me know! |
