Hello Everyone
I wish I could post the article I read in a newspaper (I typed it up by way of 'giving something back' but it's too long and I'm not allowed to post it here). I went to see the doctor who wrote it, after 3 months of constant diarrhea that was only stopped when taking medications. Warning do not take Immodium long term or any of the other drugs that just treat the symptom and not the cause. You have to heal your gut. In my case it is likely that one too many attacks of food poisoning and antibiotics had killed off all the good bacteria in my gut and finally it just gave up. Being prescribed more antibiotics and told it was anxiety by other doctors did nothing to help. So here's how the good doc fixed it. He suggested 5gms of L-Glutamine powder, 5gms of prebiotic powder, one digestive enzyme capsule and one prebiotics capsule with each meal. He explained that the bowel controls 70% of the immune system and it is vital to restore it to good health after antibiotics or food poisoning infections which you may apparently recover from but your intestines struggle on with insufficient bacteria for years until it collapses like mine. If you've had all the tests for Celiac etc. and they come back clear, try this. I believe it will cure a lot of those IBS diagnosed conditions and any long term diarrhea you can't find an explanation for. Wishing you good health. |

Helen,
I will save this regement for future use should I need it. I've had chronic diarrhea for 3 years, following surgery and chemo. About 2 weeks ago, the dr gave me proctofoam for bleeding from the rectum area and pain there and in my intestines. Then I started taking 3/4 tsp Kyosyl (psyllium) its on the shelf in the store next to metamucil. I now have normal movements!!! I was taking Questran and other meds for treatment. I no longer need to take these! Your idea makes sense. We need to heal our intestines!! I think what I did healed my gut and butt also. I thought it was some mechanism in there that was out of whack. But now I think I had inflammation and or infection in my intestines and in the rectum area. |

Correction on the above comment: Its Konsyl not Kyosyl.
