I lost 15 pounds in two months while taking
Byetta at 5 ml. I just went up to 10 ml a week ago. I had no nausea with the 5 ml dosage but now I get it bad every day, right after the morning dose. Blood sugars have come down rapidly after going to 10 ml. At 5 ml, they hovered around 250. Now they're between 125-180. I'm loving everything but the vomiting part. I haven't been this slim in years and I look forward to losing more. The best part? I didn't do ANYTHING different to lose the weight.

Nice try Bob. Don't follow that link anyone! Luckily, my virus software detected the adware it tried to install. Just another web site trying to sell phony snake oil to real sick people and propagate a little adware to boot.

I have been on Byetta 10mg for about 6 months now. I was on metformin alone for a couple of months before that. My question for anyone else who takes Byetta has to do with the injection. The instructions tell you to twist-pull-twist before putting the needle into your skin. When I do this, some of the serum squirts out the end. No, I am not pushing on the plunger. No, I am not following the priming instructions for the first use of the pen. I am doing exactly what is instructed.

Lately, I have been putting the needle in my belly before the twist-pull-twist because I'm afraid I am missing part of my dose.

As for side effects, I had mild nausea and diarrhea with the metformin and the Byetta when I first started them. Then the side effects went away. Recently, however, I have been feeling a bit nauseous after my morning and evening meals. Unfortunately, I can't tell if it's the Byetta or metformin or something unrelated. I'll have to skip a dose of one or the other to see what happens.

Oh, btw, over the last 6 months, I have lost around 35-40 lbs. Mostly due to decreased appetite. Don't worry, I can still afford to lose another 40 or so. ;-)

Just started 5mg Byetta today. With Actos-Met.
No nausea this morning, a little tonight after supper. No problem. I'm hungry! lol
Is everyone on a diet or just watching what you eat. I'm not sure what I should be doing, I see a dietican,(sry for spelling) on the 9th.

I started Byetta 4 days ago. I have noticed my blood sugar numbers getting lower. Good deal there. Haven't checked for weight loss yet. I have been getting slight headaches within 2 hours after dosing. I also have some nausea, also within about 2 hours after dosing, also a little reflux. If I eat too much it feels like I swallowed a bowling ball for hours afterwards. If I eat about half of what I used to, I am okay. I am not hungry like I used to get (big bonus). I eat what I feel like eating, other than watching that I don't eat junk foods.(I used to eat way too much of that) I am praying for the side effect of weight loss, which I am almost sure will come, since I don't eat near as much as I used to. I am taking avandaryl tablets (also for blood sugar control) since metformin side effects were so awful...I had constant severe diarrhea and nausea. The slight nausea with the Byetta is not really a problem. I have a little bit of dizziness also, but not too bad. It seems like these bad side effects are not quite as bad as on the first day (thank you Jesus!) I hope to see continued improvement in my blood sugar numbers, and maybe I will be able to stop taking avadaryl, since I am on about 10 different prescriptions for different things at this time.

It was good to see someone post here! I've only been on Byetta since 8/2/06. Just found out I have diabetes. I'm on Actos/Met. also.
I have a ton of weight to lose so I'm really hoping for the best in that area. I get full on very little! I go to the Dr. tomorrow so I'm anxious to see what I've lost. Better be something! lol
Anyone want to e-mail about Byetta, my e-mail is caperry7779@yahoo.com

Forgot to mention I now have nausea with the Byetta, mornings are the worst. Evenings not as bad. Keeping wondering if it's what I'm eating or if I'm not eating enough. Today my gallbladder was acting up so was miserable. Hanging in there! lol

I have also noticed that some of the byetta squirts out when I am getting ready for an injection. I don't know why it happens or how to make it stop. I am going to wait until after I stick myself to dial up the injection now. Thanks for the idea and sorry I don't have an answer to your question. I have just found this web site and I am really looking forward to learning more from other people who are using byetta. I have been on it for severel months without any problems and I have lost 22lbs since starting it.

I started Byetta a week ago for Insulin Resistance. Since then I have felt so full and sick that I dont want to eat. I have to force myself to eat the little that I do. Does anyone find its better to eat 15 min after your injection or wait closer to an hour? How long does this last?

thanks-

I'm so glad to see other people posting here! Wish there was a discussion board! I have been having so much nausea, and have been eating right after the shot. But the last 3 days have waited about 45 minutes to eat and the nausea has been so much better. Or is it that after 2 weeks my body is adjusting to the Byetta? lol
This morning I gave my self the shot and wait 10 seconds and pull the needle out and looked and there was medicine on my belly. That happened one other time and that's why I went to leaving it for the count of 10. Wonder why that happens?

I have been on Byetta 5 mg for a few months, but now on the 10mg twice a day. Any suggestions on how to beat the nausea? My sugar levels are GREAT but the upset stomach is rough.
Any hints appreciated.

Good News!!!!
I've been on Byetta 5 mg. for 2 weeks and have lost 20 lbs! I'm so excited!
The Dr. is like "Yes it's working! lol
Nausea is better, I wait until the end of the hour to eat, I really think that helps me.

Hi I too am on Byetta, third month, like most of you I started on the 5, am now on the 10. I've lost about 10 to 14 lbs. I retain fluid so it is hard to tell which is fluid I've lost or fat....(-: Have the same side effects.... nausea has past for the morning dose....most days I forget the evening dose. I know they say don't take the shot if you've already started eating.... what is going to happen if we do take it after we start eating? My BS is at a normal range when I take Byetta. I feel much better too. I also have a thyroid problem.....I'm hypot if any of you know anything about thyroids...... I gained about 100 lbs in one year before the doctors figured out what was wrong.... I've started swimming and working out in the pool. I can tell I've lost an inch or so..... going to keep it up as long as the weather permits.... Going to start watching what I eat and visiting you nice folks here.... anyone can email me @ bambooj0@msn.com to talk about Byetta.....
Good luck to you all, and you all wish me luck....(-:

Daily Horoscope for December 1

Sagittarius

As much as the robust Archer would like to indulge, today you must mind your health. If you go out to celebrate the holidays, go easy on the rich foods and spirits. Too much alcohol and you might find yourself saying the absolute wrong thing to the right person, thus blowing what could be a perfectly lovely evening. Strive for moderation.
