Shire is currently NOT shipping their medication Pentasa to Assistance Program recipients. All their representatives can say is that there is a delay and nothing is shipping. They do not say how long the delay will last. They have nothing else to say.
So, if you have to sign up for Shire's assistance program, good luck. You probably won't see your medication for a long time. Or, you can spend $25.00 a day at the Pharmacy for Pentasa, I'm sure Shire has the Pharmacy's shipments getting to them on time. |

Another update on Shire's Assistance Program.
Shire will give you your first 90 day prescription and then when it is time for your next 90 day prescription, they will require that you provide them a letter stating that you have been denied Medicaid before they will send you any more prescriptions. They could ask for this information when they approve you initially, that way you can apply for Medicaid if you haven't already. Giving you time to receive the denial letter so that you don't miss taking your medication. This seems like a poorly designed assistance program that doesn't put the patient's needs first. They are denying people their medication 90 days later, based on information they have had since the initial application. It seems like a bait and switch tactic and that should be unacceptable when it comes to people taking medication. If anything, they should continue giving people their medication until they provide Shire with the information they need. |
